i am formerly radqueer*, and very critical of the community. i don't care if you're radqueer or not. i do not align with any existing blankqueer, and i don't plan on trying to. you will not get my stances on anything that isn't already implied by my "i will block" list.

i dont post in tags and my pinned makes it clear i wont cw or tw tag anything that isnt a flashing gif. that's for accessibility. why would i add a tag to my nsfw posts specifically when they're few and far between already. not like im posting hole on main, now is it.

since we're on the subject, when it comes to triggers, idgaf. i dont care what triggers you i dont care what makes you uncomfortable. my time on this blog will not be spent babysitting whatever audience i have and making sure they dont see something that might upset them accidentally. i dont even post anything that bad besides occasional incoherent hornyposting so there isnt really much of anything to be so uptight about.

rqc gotta learn to not make false assumptions about othwrs just because they feel offended or called out when i point out prominent issues in the radqueer community. i wouldn't be very critical of the radqueer community if i never did critique the community.

like it or not, some screenreaders are heavily affected by unicode characters, specialize fonts, and tumblr's customizable text. some screenreaders are not affected by it. some screenreaders are high quality and can process/skip over unicode characters and read cuatomized text and fonts just fine. some screenreaders only have issues with certain fonts specifically. some screenreaders are only affected by unicode characters. some are only affected by certain unicode characters.

the point is, not all screenreaders have the same capabilities. some people are limited by older devices or even budget (for the screenreaders that are paywalled or paywall a version that functions properly), and therefore will use whatever screenreader is easiest for them to use. sometimes these screenreaders are quite sensitive and WILL break when it detects a unicode character, a font and/or customized text. even if it's just tumblr's maekdown text.

for example, i am using an old phone at the moment while my current one gets repaired. downloadable screenreaders that are "available" to me on this phone are either sketchy, don't function very well, or are entirely incompatible with my device. to make things easier for myself, i'm just using my phone'a built in screenreader, which is google talkback. HOWEVER, because it is an old phone, it uses an outdated version of google talkback that IS very much impacted by even tumblr's markdown text when customized. it will stop working entirely and won't start reading on tumblr again until i close and reopen the app.

even on my current phone, voice assistant atill has issues like this. few and far between, sure, but not nonexistant.

so, no, not all screenreaders are the same and not all of them can read your fancily formatted text. i think telling ANY disabled person that they're lying about how their own accessibility aids work and claiming they're lying about limitations they have or issues they encounter with that aid will always be ableist.

just apologize, say you didn't know but now that you do know, you won't say it again. take it upon yourself to learn why what you said was bad, and a learning experience. it kind of also depends on what you said ngl but i'm going to answer this like you said an actual slur unkowingly

to use this as an excuse to go on a tangent...

i think it's important to note that no one is 100% immune to unintentionally perpetuating bigotry. if you live in a country like the US, for example, you're living in a society where bigotry such as racism, xenophobia, ableism, misogyny, and queermisia is incredibly prominent because that is what the US was built on.

there's also the fact that you just might be unaware of the weight something you've said or done holds.

what we have to realize is that whenever we're called out for doing/saying something that is bigoted, you shouldn't take it as a personal insult or an accusation. you should take it as an experience to learn from and better yourself. i grew up sheltered as fuck in a very racist family. when i was finally allowed to socialize with others, i learned very quickly the "truths" i had been taught growing up were bigoted and harmful. when confronted, i felt horrible, but i learned from it and now i'm not racist lmao.

i'd like to take this as an opportunity to bring up that "indigenous" is NOT a race. indigenous does not mean you are brown, it doesn't mean you're black, it doesn't mean you're white, "indigenous" as a general descriptor isn't going to tell anyone jack shit about your skin color. wanna know why? because indigenous people are EVERYWHERE. to be indigenous means "originating or occurring naturally in a particular place." people tend to think that "indigenous" is exclusive to USAmerica which is blatantly not true in any capacity.

because there are indigenous people in every country, indigenous people are going to have different skin tones and different ethnic features. the gaels are native to ireland, areas of scotland, and the isle of man. they're white. still indigenous! and of course there are indigenous africans and indigenous asians as well. indigenous south americans, indigenous north americans, etc etc. because, like i said, indigenous people are EVERYWHERE.

while on this topic, i'd like to bring up blood quantum. because i see a lot of people get weird as shit about white passing BIPOC and biracial BIPOC. the so called "importance" of blood quantum when it comes to what race a person was encouraged by colonizers to drive those still connected to their cultures but not [xyz race] "enough" to whiteness. people react similarly to white passing BIPOC for not "looking like their race enough," which is incredibly racist. but "blood quantum" truly does not fucking matter. if you grew up connected to your culture, it doesn't matter what people think you "should" be. if you're reconnecting to your culture, it doesn't matter what people think you "should" be. if you're connecting to a culture your family hasn't known about or been in touch with for generations, it DOES NOT FUCKING MATTER what people think you "should" be.
