🌆✍🏻
In 2021, I was living in Kaohsiung, working at a Japanese yakiniku restaurant.
The exhaustion of working in the restaurant made me want to find something to do—something that could bring a little energy back into my life. So I used my own printer, a craft knife, a ruler, and a stapler to put together this little zine.
It was the first product I had ever listed on Shopee.
Less than half a day after it went online, all 50 handmade copies were sold out.
With the money I earned, I moved back to Taipei to continue chasing my dream.
What I didn’t realize was that I wasn’t good at the business side of things, so there were no new products after that.
My mind and notebooks have always been filled with ideas I wanted to share, but I simply didn’t have the time or ability to take care of every detail by myself. I also didn’t know how to build a healthy relationship with money and selling my work.
So I closed the shop.
I’m grateful for this exhibition because it gave me the chance to lay everything I’ve created over the years out in front of me, and to clearly see the path I’ve taken.
Following the small hole I once carved, I kept digging, hoping it would eventually become a road. Along the way, I met many talented people from different fields. We worked together, and they shared their ideas and perspectives with me, giving those thoughts that had only existed in my head and notebooks a chance to slowly become reality.

雙J各自在LA和Coachella的live,這兩場真的是聽覺饗宴。如果這兩人來台灣開演唱會,我會去借高利貸。

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
It's not a silly little moment It's not the storm before the calm This is the deep and dying breath of This love we've been working on
Can't seem to hold you like I want to So I can feel you in my arms Nobody's gonna come and save you We pulled too many false alarms
We're going down And you can see it too We're going down And you know that we're doomed My dear We're slow dancing in a burning room
I was the one you always dreamed of You were the one I tried to draw How dare you say it's nothing to me Baby, you're the only light I ever saw
I'll make the most of all the sadness You'll be a bitch because you can You try to hit me just to hurt me So you leave me feeling dirty Because you can't understand
We're going down And you can see it too We're going down And you know that we're doomed My dear We're slow dancing in a burning room
Go cry about it why don't you Go cry about it why don't you Go cry about it why don't you My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room, Burning room, burning room Burning room, burning room Don't you think we ought a know by now Don't you think we should a learned somehow Don't you think we ought a know by now Don't you think we should a learned somehow Don't you think we ought a know by now Don't you think we should a learned somehow
Today, I had a conversation with a group of visitors.
They asked me,
“What made you start taking photographs?”
Since I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to flat surfaces. I loved drawing. Whenever I had a piece of paper and a pen, I couldn’t help but leave marks on it.
In junior high school, I became fascinated by an older student’s Wretch blog. It was the Instagram of nearly twenty years ago. What captivated me wasn’t just the photos—it was the way he lived. He seemed so free, so comfortable in his own life. Looking through his blog felt as if I had quietly slipped out into the world alongside him.
From then on, I began paying more attention to my own life. I wanted to preserve it.
During the second semester of my senior year in college, I started dating a fashion design student. We shared the same passion for cameras, and photography gradually became part of our everyday life. She opened up my perspective and introduced me to a much more interesting world.
So photographing sex and nudity was never the reason I first picked up a camera.
Sex is my instinct.
Nudity is what she taught me.
I understand that many people may never understand why I make these photographs.
From the moment I pressed the shutter for the first time, I never believed any of this should be taken for granted.
I have never considered these photographs to be art.
Nor have I ever wanted to change anyone’s way of thinking, or speak on behalf of any community.
They are simply records of my life.
Nothing more than ordinary, unremarkable moments.
I have always found people who can quietly appreciate these works with respect to be interesting.
If you still don’t understand why I photograph these images, I’d recommend watching Joker.
You can skip to the very end—to the scene between Joker and his therapist.
