I Will Survive | Closed
This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. Derek wasn’t a victim; he hadn’t been since he was a kid and had dealt with Carl Buford. Which made this situation even worse for him to deal with. The only saving grace through the whole ordeal was that he knew how to disassociate himself from the pain. He’d gotten to talk with his “father” though who knew if that’s who it really was, considering he’d been hallucinating and locked inside his own mind. It was the only way he’d been able to survive the ordeal.
Now, though, he had to learn how to live with the aftermath of it all. Hadn’t he proven that he was stronger than all the crap he had to deal with every day? He managed to overcome the abuse he suffered at the hands of someone who should have been a mentor to him. He was able to come back to work every day, even given some of the horrible cases they worked on that made him wonder if he was really cut out for this job.
But this. This was different. He had never been tortured like this before. Even with the disassociation, he could still feel the pain of everything that was sent his way. It had made what happened to him even worse. He was safe now, though. He had to keep reminding himself of that. He was in the hospital, he would be going home now, and he was safe.
Or was he?
Physically, yes. He was completely safe. He wouldn’t have to worry about anymore torturous devices being used on him. There would be no more burning of his chest. No more whips to his abs. But mentally? He was far from safe. Much as he tried to avoid it, he couldn’t help but think of the experience. Even when he blocked it out, it would still come back to haunt him in his dreams. He’d already scared the nurses more than once waking up screaming and trying to fight them off of him when they were only trying to help.
After the first night of that happening, he did his best not to sleep, but that only made him more tired. Blinking his eyes and doing his best to keep them open, he turned to the one person who’d kept him going through everything: Ivory. The love of his life. The person who he would do anything for. It was knowing that he would be leaving her behind that kept him fighting.
Doing his best to offer a smile, he reached his hand out for hers, wanting to feel the contact.
“You know you can go home,” he told her, not knowing how much longer they would be keeping him here for observation and to make sure his wounds were healing properly. “I know it’s not comfortable sleeping in a chair like that all the time. Go home, eat something tasty, and get some good sleep, yeah?”
Derek had a feeling she would deny the request, but he wanted her to take care of herself, not standing--or rather, sitting--vigil by his bedside every night if she didn’t want to.

They were still skeptical about the whole deal but they were willing to go easy on him for now. They could only hope that the guy wouldn’t screw up or accidentally give them a lead that would end up going nowhere. After the third ring, Henry picked up, surprised that the agent would call again. “Huh…? Oh yeah, I guess…I can help but…I’m not sure how much help I would be…” There were several odd limitations on what he could do, such as him not being able to trace anyone on the spot unless he has gained a personal attachment to them like as close friends or lovers. Personal belongings were what gave him the sight of memories of the person or event. He wasn’t sure what good he would do if they have no physical evidence of what the killer looks or if they had left anything personal behind. Of course, they don’t have much time left to sit around to figure out what they need to do. No way of knowing if Amanda is still alive or deceased but… “…Alright,” he replied after some hesitation. “I’ll come in…in a few minutes.” Hanging up, he let out a deep breath, rubbing at his temple. He managed to recover some energy so he hadn’t become too exhausted. He could only hope this turns out well. Henry made his appearance at the station, arms crossed in front of hsi chest and looking rather demure. Several eyes could felt upon him but he chose to ignore them as he was escorted to the briefing room. There, he could see Derek as well as other members of his team. That’s what he assumed from the strong air of loyalty and familial love generating from each of them. He appeared as if he was too shy to speak but he gathered up his courage and spoke up. “I don’t know…how much I would be of use to you,” he said quietly. “Can’t…do anything that much without something, y’know?”
None of them was sure where to go from here. Even with the whole team there attempting to come up with some semblance of where this man might have gone, they were still drawing blanks. He had such a large head start, and they didn’t even know for sure if he was in the same car or if he’d switched to a different vehicle somewhere along the way.
“We need to contact all major gas stations along the interstate, ask if they’ve seen any strange man come in with a girl who looks terrified,” Hotch was saying. “Somebody’s going to see them somewhere.”
“They’re gonna have to stop for gas and food,” Rossi agreed. “When they do, if he doesn’t have cash, maybe we’ll get him with his credit card.”
Derek sighed, knowing that by the time they actually got any valid leads, the two could be off to somewhere new and they might never catch up. The arguments were still going on when Henry walked into the room and started talking, which earned him the full captive audience of everyone in there.
Derek was the first to respond, standing up and walking over to him.
“What do you need? We might be able to help you, but we gotta know what it is you might need.”
They didn’t have much evidence, but if it’s what Henry needed, then Derek would make sure he got it. Whether or not he had to step on other people’s toes didn’t matter. What really mattered right now was finding this girl. Alive.
“Where’d you get all these cuts?” (feel free to ignore :) )
Injury Starters
Looking down at his arms, he noticed the various marks that were now lining his skin. “It’s nothing,” he muttered, pulling his sleeves down. “Just had a little accident on the way to work this morning. I’m fine.” He obviously wasn’t fine, but he was Mr. Tough Guy and wasn’t about to admit that he was hurt.

Raven continued to hold her hands up in surrender and nodded at his words. She tried not to let anything get to her when people were rude to her, she knew she could be a bit pushy especially when someone was injured. “Can I at least make you something to eat or drink?”
“I’ll take a glass of water.” He wasn’t really thirsty, but he realized he was being a jackass, and wanted to try to make it up to her somehow. “Thanks,” he added, not wanting her to be offended by his rudeness.
