Happy extended weekend & Selamat Hari Raya to all the Muslim people in this world! 🎊
Apart from the PH that people are enjoying, I’m also v blessed to enjoy the June holidays as well 🙂 #teachers
Well, people think that it’s fantastic that teachers enjoy the different holidays, yes we do, but unlike others, we don’t have annual leave which means, we only can travel peacefully during these school holidays which also means travel costs spike.
On top of that, we don’t enjoy the full holiday. Let’s take June holiday as an example: 1 month of holiday for the kids but for the teachers ...
- the first week of holiday, we return back to school to clean up, training and intensive meetings
- next 2 weeks are our block leave, which means we don’t need to go back to school YAY
- the last week, we return back to school for planning, trainings and more meetings
If not, where u think all the activity sheets, homeworks, lesson plan all come from?
I know there are people who are v envious of teachers who have more than 21 days of ‘annual leave’ bcos of our holidays. But man, y’all gotta think deeper. U really think that we have that full holidays that students get to enjoy? On top of that, we generally start work much earlier than most office people and end work late as well. We often bring work home. Well, I know that at every work environment, there’s a ‘peak’ period where people slog their ass off and OT etc but there’s no ‘peak’ period for teachers bcos guess what, it’s peak period all year long. We only have ‘peak peak’ period. Yet we still need to face parents who have v high expectations and expect their child to know everything in the world - but how much support do they give their child? MINIMUM
All in all, I’ve great respect to all my fellow teachers out there - especially those who taught for many years.
P.S I’m not complaining hahaha just sharing a piece of thought bcos I’m so sick of people not appreciating teachers
Well, cheers! Ending off w a picture w my bbg ❤️
