Just finished this amazing experience of a game. For those who know me it's not a surprise how expected this game was for me as I'm deeply attached to the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series. I've watched people playing both on youtube countless times, but never had the opportunity of experiencing such an adventure first hand by myself. As BG3's release date came near it dawned on me that I was finally going to be able to have that for the first time. Naturally, 'hyped' would be an understatement of how I felt. This last month I've took my time enjoying everything I could from this game. Really immersing myself on the role of my tiefling sorcerer, Maeve. When I wasn't getting my ass beaten by a random ambush I was probably snooping around every room and cellar door I could find. Speaking to every cat, and spending minutes just watching the landscape of an area I found beautiful while listening to the ambience. (I recorded my Tav and Alfira playing songs together for 10+ minutes and that's my most treasured video so far) Years of labor of hundreds of hard working people. Sometimes I just stop to think about that and let it sink in. And now that it's over I'm left with a strange but welcome feeling I don't think I've ever had before in life: the feeling of experiencing something that was everything you've ever hoped. Gratitude and wonder blended together. Ironically, the best thing that could describe my feelings is a recurring quote from the game itself: "You feel sated." I thought finishing this game was going to leave me with a sense of sadness, emptiness. But instead it's like that empty space has been filled, permanently. And for that I am thankful.
