Demon From The Breach

Several brightly-glowing spots ran up its tail and neck, leading to a piercing blue gaze that rivaled his own in severity. He grinned. For all the danger this new kaiju could pose, it was fascinating to look at. Fascinating to smell, as well--he could catch the faint scent of dried fluid on its scarred skin. It was almost like the egg fluid he'd smelled when he first hatched…  She was a female, and she was a mother. But where was the child?

She spoke, then, her voice deep and raspy with a thick, otherworldly accent.

"Who are you?" she said. "Where are you from?"

Should he reply? Perhaps she had contact with another beast, waiting to ambush him from the depths of the dark water. But he hadn't detected anyone else for miles, and if there was one thing he could trust it was his senses. He settled down next to her, just far enough away to be out of reach of her tail, and responded.

No... no he seemed, and smelled, much older than the metal things, this being had existed long before the first of her kind rose to exterminate the humans.

There were so many questions she felt burning in the back of her head, it was almost a headache trying to just pin down one to ask the gigantic reptile. Finally, it dawned on her, a question that she would ask of any kaiju these days.

If there was anything that bothered Otachi more than anything she had witnessed thus far, it was the sense that there was something nearby… Something that rivaled, if not dwarfed her in size. Something ominous and not of her kind, moving in the waters off the shore of her snowy island.

Her nostrils flared as she reared her head to look at the waters, steam curling up from her great muzzle. There was no visual sign, but it was the way the water stirred and the sheer sense that something was near.

Whether or not it was another lost beast or a metal giant, however, was yet to be known, and she eyed the waters beside her carefully, tail curling closer to her in anticipation.

There was little she could truly do, but it was not in her to submit to something she’d not yet met.

So he circled the creature for a time, observing it from the safe distance of the water. Even wounded, he didn’t know what it was capable of, and he wasn’t one to take unnecessary risk. After a short time he decided it was no threat—but perhaps, given this glorious opportunity, he could make it an ally… The King surfaced, sending waves rolling down his spiked back and into the shaking ocean below. A huge four-toed foot impacted the ice, cracking it with a crunch almost like bone. Bright amber eyes pierced the darkness.

Indeed, this beast was not of her world, and she had the shaking feeling that he was born to this one. The reptilian features reflected far more of Earth's creatures than any of her own.

His dialect, however, was not impossible to grasp. He spoke aloud, in a tongue not unlike her own, and it was similar enough that the simple "Hello" he uttered was easy to understand.

Clearly, he was not here for a fight, for now at least.

She raised her head to him and held her fearsome gaze, not letting her guard down. For all she knew, this was a trick, a beast created by the humans to give her false hope.

Otachitl the K’aa’ijutl

If Otachi had the strength, she would have stamped a foot down on the little red creature and been done with the noise for the day.

He looked at the pod, then at the Kaiju, then back to the pod again. “Wait wait wait hold on… you want this?” He held up the pod, looking at it. “Well… I don’t really have anything to melt it off… and I’m probably gonna freeze to death otherwise. But we don’t know if it’s dangerous… and I don’t know if that is what you want.”

No matter, the moment the Cyborg, as he called himself, placed the pod in her jaws, she slowly closed her mouth on it, leaving just enough room to still breathe down on the frozen object. It was about the size of the mites that used to crawl around her hide when she first surfaced, and she figured she could simply crack it open with her teeth once it melted more.

Just a little more pressure...

CRACK

'Was a great warrior, now I doubt I've the strength to stand.' Her eyes looked onward, blinking slowly in the dimming light. 'Orders of execution do tend to create a powerful retaliation, and the human-controlled metal creatures proved to be formidable adversaries.'

"Well then, that’s that." He squinted at her, scratching the side of his helmet. "Now then, I can’t understand you, but you are clearly intelligent, and I think you can understand me.” He said, pacing up and down in attempt to keep himself warm. “I’m going to take it you’re wondering what this capsule is. Frankly, I haven’t the foggiest, but it’s been giving of a distress signal, so I came to find it.” He said cheerily.

He said that it was giving off a distress call? Was it because of her? Would it warn those metal beasts of her presence? She certainly was in no shape to be fighting.

She didn't respond to him right away. His request was so... primitive, dare she say it. The humans were so obsessed with touching the beasts of their planet, it seemed to bring them pleasure to be able to safely interact with something that could so easily destroy their weak fleshy bodies. This alien creature was no different, apparently.

Regardless, she wasn't really in a position to refuse, and let her head finally rest on the frosted earth with a resigned sigh through her nostrils.

He actually gave a startled yelp of surprise when she started breathing down his back. It admittedly made him a little uncomfortable… but it was warm, warm was good, staying warm would keep him alive.

She eyed the little capsule with mild suspicion. What was it doing in this frozen wasteland, and why was the little red man so attached to it? It certainly came across as a priority above his own safety. She grunted and rumbled, nostrils flaring as she tried her best to figure out what was so important about the little object.

"C’mon you damned contraption… work." He waved it around again, taking another few steps until he heard her snort. The Cyborg turned, peering up at the Kaiju. "Why are you watching me?" He queried. "Are you hungry or something?" He shrugged and shook his head, shivering from the cold and quickly waving the device again. "I know you’re intelligent, but if you want something you’ll have to tell me in a way I’ll understand.

She opened her mouth and attempted to say something, but her jumbled noises sounded more like an upset whale and rhinoceros having a conversation than anything comprehensible.
