Maybe In Another Universe | Del & Wes
Wes only felt his smile widen once he really took in Delaney. His eyes never left her form as she sat the roses to the side and he realized this was an actual date. He’d set it up as one, of course, but it became more real than he imagined it would be as soon as he saw her, as silly as it was. “You’re beautiful,” he breathed, countering her remark about the flowers. Normally, he’d hold such compliments in, mashing them to nothing but wishful thinking, but tonight he wasn’t going to do that. Tonight was for pretending that they could be like this — normal — and he was going to take advantage of it.
His smile turned a little sheepish at her compliment and he scratched at the back of his neck, letting out a small laugh before he was able to compose himself. “I always look handsome,” he teased, his fingers going to the knot in his tie, which he proudly tied himself for the first time in his life. He held out his arm for her to take, raising his eyebrows almost mischievously, and pulled her out of the room, hardly giving her the time to shut the door behind her. “See, I’ve had a lot of time to think about what I’d like to do on a date with you,” he admitted, unabashed. “At first I thought something extravagant, like a hot air balloon ride to the country, or taking a helicopter to the beach at sunset. Romantic, yeah?” He laughed and shook his head, turning to look at her again once they left the warmth of Trinity and hurled themselves into the unforgiving New York winter.
"But then I decided those were lame as shit and that you deserve something classier," he continued, leading them to the gates where a town car awaited their arrival. Unlike last time, they weren’t headed to a building full of sick people, they were headed… Anywhere. The possibilities were endless for the rest of the night and for the first time since his first encounter with Delaney, he was excited about where they would go. "So I’m keeping it simple. Dinner. And then… Whatever we want," he said, opening the door for her and sliding after her, a new found energy coursing through his veins. He leaned towards her in the car, tentatively taking her hand. He’d held her hand countless times before, but this… Was different. He smiled at the thought. "You really do look beautiful."
Beautiful. Coming from Wes, the word was just - different. Del had been called beautiful more than once, but when she heard the words coming from Wes, she really believed it. Feeling a blush creep onto her cheeks, Del shot the boy a grin, grabbing his arm as they began to make their way out of Trinity. They garnered more than a few odd looks and left behind a wake of whispers and pulled out phones. She wasn't surprised, really - Wes was definitely one of the most talked-about guys in school. Del had no doubts that rumors of the two of them were already making their rounds through the gossip mill. Normally, the thought would bother her, but tonight it didn't matter. Hearing his date ideas, she shot a glance at Wes, a wide grin taking over her features.
Her fingers squeezed his arm slightly as she leaned towards him, feeling completely comfortable with Wes. "You know, I'm disappointed you didn't go with the helicopter to the beach, really." Smirking, she playfully bumped shoulders with him. "Though dinner and... whatever sounds good too." Honestly, just spending time with Wes sounded good. Del slid into the waiting car, watching as he settled himself into the seat next to her. Her eyes tracked his movements, her breath hitching slightly as Wes took her hand. Del froze for a moment out of instinct - holding hands like this was strictly prohibited. She'd drilled it into her head time and time again. But for the first time tonight, they were free to do as they pleased.
Nothing was complicated tonight. If it felt good - then it was good. Del's gaze shifted from their clasped hands to Wes' own gaze. "Stop that," she said with a teasing smile, pulling their linked hands into her lap. A sudden flash of regret - of what was going to come - burned through her body. Now that she had a taste of what their relationship could be, how simple and easy and perfect, Del didn't want to let it go. She pushed the thoughts out of her mind and decided to deal with the hurt when it came. For now, it was about enjoying the moment. Delaney didn't speak again as they rode in the car together, their hands entwined. That definitely had to be a plus of already knowing so much about each other - awkward silences didn't exist between them. When the car finally pulled to a stop, she leaned into him, planting a small kiss on his cheek. "Thank you in advance for tonight, Wes. Seriously."
Empty Sighs and A Full Bottle of Wine || Lina & Del
Beyond the window, the snow fell in big, soft flakes, blanketing everything within sight. All the buildings of campus wore snow caps over their rooftops, and the manicured lawns were hidden under a thick, white layer. It gave the campus a cozy, quaint look that the imposing, stone buildings of Preston Academy didn’t usually have. That was the one thing Cat would admit she liked about this snowy kind of winter- it was picturesque, yet melancholy, a Christmas music box melody made real. But it was also way too cold for her own personal preference. Luckily, she didn’t plan on leaving Trinity tonight.
Turning away from the window, Catalina continued down the hall towards the room at the far end, a triple suite belonging to Noelle Reynolds, Lea Briem, and Delaney Ryan. The latter was who Cat was paying a visit to, with a bottle of red wine tucked under the folds of her large, cable-knit cardigan in a barely-concealed effort. When they had spoken, Cat could tell that the blonde needed the alcohol (and the company) tonight, though the reasons for it were still mostly a mystery to her- she figured it had to be something to do with her night at the Masquerade, or the disappearing act she had pulled right after when Del had decided to go home for a few days and left half the campus baffled. Still, though she wasn’t much of a good therapist, Lina knew how to be a good drinking buddy. And that’s how she would help. She knocked a few times on the door, glancing around the hallway before slipping the bottle of wine out from under her sweater and holding it up to the peephole in the door. “Room service!” she trilled with impish sweetness, a smile tugging up the corners of her mouth.
Over the past week or so, it seemed like Delaney’s life had just fallen apart. Everything used to be so easy – her natural and comfortable friendship with Wes, her belief that everything that happened in her life was for a reason, her feelings about Finn – it was all easy. But after the masquerade ball, everything had gone wrong. So she’d run away and spent the days crying and thinking and figuring everything out. Del thought that she had it all together. But really? She didn’t know anything. In reality, all Del wanted to do at the moment was sleep and watch sad, depressing movies. She was pretty sure that she couldn’t stomach a sappy love story at the moment, even though they used to be her absolute favorite. Thankfully, Lina had agreed to come and keep her company. Del knew that Lina was good friends with Georgia, which made the whole situation even more awkward, but she also knew that Lina was a good friend. And anyways, Del wasn’t planning on spilling her guts about her problems.
Grabbing the remote, Del scrolled through the pickings of Netflix, adding every depressing title she saw. With her queue stocked, she threw a bag of popcorn into the microwave, eager to stuff her body with butter and calories. It wasn’t like it mattered, anyways. Hearing a knock on the door, Del hurried over, not bothering to look through the peephole. There was only person that she was expecting, anyways. She wasn’t disappointed when she opened the door, either – the sight of Lina’s smiling face putting a smile on her own face. And it helped that Lina had a bottle of wine in her hands. “Just in time,” she said with a soft smile, opening the door wider to allow Lina to step inside. Del grabbed the popcorn out of the microwave and poured it into a large bowl, before grabbing two glasses for the wine. “So I queued up, like, 7 sad movies. Don’t be surprised if I’m a snotty, disgusting mess by the end of the night.” Settling onto her bed, she shot Lina a small smile, her tone light but honest. The last thing that Del wanted to do at the moment was talk about what had been going on with her life, but she had a strange feeling that it was going to come out sooner or later with the wine.
I don’t remember wanting a relationship or asking you for tips. And, frankly, when I open my legs is none of your business.
Whatever, Delaney. Talk labels with someone who cares.
You were the one who was saying that no guy would ever look at you the way that Wes looks at me. But you continue doing you, Georgia - it's working out just fine, right?
Just stay the hell away from me and the people I care about, Reid.
You’re right. I don’t know anything about him. It was just sex. You’ll cancel me out eventually. He’ll never look at me the way he looks at you, hell no guy will ever look at me the way he looks at you. It’s like you’re literal fucking sunshine and I’m just a shitty little cloud.
So are you happy now, Delaney? Because I’m not and you have Wes — I don’t know what more you could possibly want.
Don't throw a fucking pity party and make it out like I'm the bad guy here, Georgia. You want a tip on how to actually have a relationship with someone? Don't open your goddamn legs the first chance you have. There's more to someone than how they look.
And for the record? Wes and I aren't together.

Wes didn’t seem to mind.
You know - that's the easy part. Getting a guy in bed. They're pretty weak creatures, aren't they? But to get him to care about you, to love you? You don't stand a chance. So don't pretend like you know anything about my relationship with Wes, Georgia.
Right. Wouldn’t want to waste your time reserved for trophy boy.
Jealous isn't a good look for you, love.
Oh ho, Little Miss Sunshine has a dirty mouth. Is that the best you’ve got?
Trust me, honey, this is far from the best I've got. But I'm not going to waste my time with the likes of you.
Look, if you want revenge or something my water bottle’s right there. Go for it.
You really think I would sink that low? No one deserves to be drugged - not even a bitch like you.
Quitters never win, Marilyn.
Neither do people who can't take a 'no'.

That only works in drinks.
You would know, wouldn't you?
I’m under the assumption that I’m good at it because girls have always seemed pretty pleased afterwards. Statistics, Del. Not boasting.
Just because you might be a good kisser doesn't mean I want to kiss you. Give it up, Carson.
U tell her Del U go
I guess if you’ve never had a kiss from me, you wouldn’t know.
Are you under the assumption that every girl in the world wants to kiss you?
You upperclassmen. So rude to a boy who just wants to brighten your day.
I fail to see how a kiss from you would brighten my day, but to each their own.

A pizza got delivered to my room that I didn’t order so, whoever’s it actually is has five minutes to claim it or it’s mine.
Better make sure that pizza isn't, like, drugged or something.
Maybe I was just standing here waiting for you, Marilyn.
Looks like you'll have to keep on waiting, darling.
