The Lost Art of Letter Writing - Chapter 2
Willās voice cut into Tomās reverie. āI think youāre overthinking this, mate,ā he said blithely. āI mean, itās not like youāre going to marry the woman. Anyway, arenāt you into someone else?ā
Tom tensed. āWhat do you mean?ā
āOh come on, Hayward. I know you think of yourself as a man of discretion, but thereās a look you get.ā
āA look.ā
āYes, a look. Donāt think I havenāt noticed. Itās the kind of look someone gets when they arenāt just invested in what theyāre doingā theyāreĀ enjoyingĀ themselves, too. I only ever seem to catch that look on your face when youāre typing away on your computer, or when youāre on your phone. But since we both know that our business, lucrative though it may be, is not particularly stimulating, the only conclusion I can come to is that youāre seeing someone on the down low. At the very least, youāre trading messages. Messages of a particular quality, perhaps?ā Will waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Tom schooled his expression into one of nonchalance.Ā āFor a law school dropout, you certainly are adept at asking leading questions,ā he said. āBut you wonāt be getting any confessions out of me.ā

Chapter 2 is now on Ao3. More awkwardness, this time from Tom's POV. Enjoy!
