Last night, I got to go see âI Am Big Birdâ - a documentary about Caroll Spinney, the man behind Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch since their creation. The documentary was created by two good friends of mine, Dave Lamattina and @chadnwalker of @copper_pot. Itâs a great, honest, well made and emotional documentary that chronicles the life of the man.
If you get a chance, please go check it out when itâs at a festival or theater near you. #iabb #iambigbird #sesamestreet #bigbird

Tonight @mikeholmes and I got to meet oscar the grouch and caroll spinney!!!! :) #iabb #iambigbird @copper_pot
Tonight I got to meet one of my idols and inspirations - caroll spinney, the man who has been the original puppeteer of big bird and Oscar the grouch for the last 40 years. Thanks to Dave, @chadnwalker and @copper_pot - it was an honor to meet him and see my name in the credits! I even got to give him the drawings I did for the kickstarter campaign!! Thanks to @mikeholmes for coming too!!
" I realized thatâs what it was all about: I could only be as good as I can be, whatever my limits were. The second thing I learned was that creative work is never competitive. No matter how much you may think so. In the world today of animation in this particular year, there are a bunch of people making features. Theyâre trying to make better features than each other. But thatâs not the point: The point is youâre trying to make the best picture, not the best picture ever made or the best picture somebody else made. Thereâs no competition possible. When we were making cartoons at Warner Bros, we had no idea what MGM was doing, it takes a year to make a cartoon. So we had to make them and not hope they be better than someone elseâs but, hope they be marketable.â - Chuck Jones

Inspired by a visit to the Tyrus Wong exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum in August 2013, this is an animation experiment using digital brushes to achieve a watercolor look.
All artwork was created using TV Paint 10.5 Pro on my Microsoft Surface Pro 2 over several months in my spare time. Behind the scenes work-in-progress can be found here.

Gorgeous animation by Wayne Unten. Love the watercolor look.
Remember: when people tell you somethingâs wrong or doesnât work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong.

hello! you are doing great job, i love it. any thoughts on writer's block? how do you fight it if it happens? thanks!
Itâs a very serious subject and something I am, relieved to say, not a victim of.
I am of two, no make that three, schools of thought on this: that most of the time it has absolutely nothing to do with writing- that there is something else going on in your life that is making you disconnect from your creative. Â my solution for that is that you write about it. you write into it until it figures itself out.
or there is something wrong with the story you are telling and the reason you cannot pursue it any further is that your subconscious is screaming at you that this story/ character/ premise is false and that you need to re-examine where the story you went off the rails.
And thirdly there is fear. Â a lot of people talk to me about fear of failure
and sometimes itâs a mix of all of those things.
my advice is always is to sit down and get to work. always. you donât have to show anybody this work butâŚ
