Maybe he wasnât as intimidating as he thought. He was doing his best, but the kid didnât seem to be buying it. Maybe the truth was showing â this kid, this complete unknown, was performing hacking stunts on a dare that put one Tony Stark to shame. This was the kind of kid Tony would have fallen hard for back in his no-one-actually-DARED-me-to-crack-the-Pentagon-firewall I-just-dared-myself days.
He was practically falling for the kid now. Which was a problem.Â
First, because the kid was barely legal. And second, because he had successfully hacked into JARVIS which was supposed to be impossible. As far as he could tell, it was STILL impossible. Which meant he needed answers from this kid, and this kid wasnât giving them over.
âJARVIS is SI property, you realize that, right?â He gave his best glare. But nothing seemed to faze this kid, not the abduction, not the black room, not the fact that the kid was alone and there were 12 men between him and the nearest exist. Those huge brown eyes werenât even defiant. Â
They were just⊠unimpressed.
And that was driving Tony nuts.
âThat should concern you, because SI still holds weaponâs contracts with the Federal Government.â A bluff, of course, since his announcement that SI was no longer in the weapons business was legendary, but he was counting on the kid to be more interested in the tech than in his technical relationship with the government. Â
Dammit, who was this kid? Tony never had this level of chill at this age, and he was Howard Starkâs son. This kid was a beauty, but there was something else. Something he knew and Tony didnâtâŠ
âIt matters because SI is a Federal Contractor. Which means your sophomoric hackjob was a federal offense.  Are you ready to deal with FBI?â
The angelâs voice was like honey. It would have been distracting if it hadnât been so damn infuriating.
