Hyrdrothermal crystals are crystals that formed in a process involving water as opposed to just pressure in the earth’s crust. I think there’s something extra magical about these gems!! They are formed by the Earth’s most ancient waters, and one thing I’ve discovered about myself is that these are the crystals my heart is most drawn towards. The purpose of this post is simply to inform (and to gas up my favorite crystals 😏).

opal: I would be remiss if I didn’t start off with opal!! Easily the most famous hydrothermal crystal and arguably the most beautiful. There’s a reason people have been mesmerized with opal for hundreds of years, it truly is astounding. This is my ultimate dream crystal one day. Opal can aid in emotional matters and works to soothe the heart and mind, opening one up to cosmic consciousness. A good gem to cleanse and strengthen the auric self.

agate- I actually did not know that agate was a hydrothermal crystal before writing this post! It’s actually a watery relative of quartz or chalcedony. Agate has been used by humans since the Neolithic period as well as in ancient Babylon and many other societies. Known as a healing and restorative stone. Said to have a lower frequency than some other crystals it is a very stabilizing energy.

petrified wood- Although technically not a crystal in the beginning, petrified wood is formed when mineral and quartz containing water seeps into the porous surface of wood, thus crystallizing it. How absolutely magical! This stone naturally has a very grounding energy, yet it can also help alleviate feelings of stagnancy or being stuck in time. Petrified wood can help you construct a solid foundation to build yourself up from.

enhydro quartz- Technically I don’t believe quartz itself is formed in water, but enydro quartz is a quartz crystal that contains truly ancient water from inside the earth’s crust when it was formed. This is another crystal that I’ve always dreamt of owning. I just feel like it would be such a powerful talisman, something I’d wanna carry with me every day. You could even charge the water in the moon or sun and carry that energy with you or utilize it like a battery!

honorable mention: flourite! Flourite is another crystal formed through water and it is one of my absolute favorites.
