Am I the only Wileven who doesnât like Mileven because Mike is a toxic and abusive boyfriend to Eleven.
gay/bi mike wheeler discourse is so hilarious from my pov. I'm here sitting on my bench watching you all going at each other's troaths virtually, eating popcorn and knowing that Mike is straight, that the Duffer Brothers are lazy and they wrote Will to be in love with Mike because they wanted to take the safer route : sad gay kid pining over his straight best friend. They didn't add a new character for Will in season four because it wasn't suitable for Will and Mike storyline. If Argyle wouldn't have existed and in his place there would have been the new Will's love interest, what the fuck would Mike have done for eight episodes ? Will's storyline would have been different, he couldn't be Mike's counselor. Will and Mike's storylines in season four are attached not because there is this big plot twist around the corner and by*ler will be endgame, it's because of cheap, lazy writing. They didn't know what to do with both of them. So it's really funny reading this whole online discourse "Mike is clearly gay" "Mike is perfect bi representation" when i am here with a bitter taste in my mouth thinking that in good hands, in hands that really cared about queer identity and queer representation Will Byers would have been treated differently.
I'm I the only Stranger Things fan who loves both Eleven and Will, but doesn't want either one of them to be with Mike, because I think they both deserve better?
the way jonathan and argyle, two stoned men, somehow had more tact than a sober mike is wild to me. they were out here telling el that angela looked fine, angela will be fine, i mean shit it was just a roller skate and not an ice skate so its so much better, people hit people with roller skates all the time, literally dont stress it. and then here comes mike "she didnt look fine" wheeler who's seeing el for the first time in like a year immediately fucking shit up. I truely, genuinely, don't understand Byler. Mike is a pos that doesn't pay more than surface level attention to Will and honestly? Will deserves better than that. It's ok for it to just be an unrecipocated love story and for Will to then grow and realise he's better off with literally anyone else. It's wild to me that this is such an unpopular take in the fandom.

I love how deep their bond goes on a spiritual and romantic level their souls are intertwined together and they have a sacred link between them where they can sense the other. I think itâs beautiful how deep their love is because despite never meeting Will El sensed he was alive and rescued him from the upside down and Will tried his best to save El from Angelaâs torment of her, theyâre both very sweet and selfish people who are both very self sacrificial but I think them being together can make the other realise how theyâre important as well.
Head canons.
-Will and El help each other realise how toxic Mike is to them and they drop him together.
-El rests her head on Wills chest when she gets anxious or has nightmares about her trauma and Will runs his hands through her hair.
-they go on the sweetest picnic dates together.
-Wills favourite thing to draw is El he has entire sketch books filled with her and his nickname for her is âmy museâ
-Whenever Will gets cold on their walks to school El takes off her coat and gives it to him the same way a boyfriend would a girlfriend. Max teases them for this and jokingly calls Will âElâs girlfriendâ

Exactly!!! Mike was a horrible friend to Will in seasons 3-4 what happened to the sweet Mike who used to care about Will? he just turned toxic out of nowhere.
Him accusing Will of being gay was awful âitâs not my fault you donât like girlsâ was a very mean to say especially because Will was used to being called gay his whole life despite being bisexual/straight and secondly it was heartbreaking for Wills crush on Eleven poor Will I wanted Eleven to show up and hug him in that scene.
Mike is awful for blaming Will for everything when Mike is the onto whoâs ruining everything. Will and El are too kind to him I hope next season they abandon him.
Mike will probably be bitching about how he doesnât understand why they left him âbut I was a good friend/boyfriendâ âitâs not my faultâ

I love how similar and yet different they are. Theyâre both very sweet and caring individuals who are somewhat shy but present these traits differently. While Will is shy he has a hidden sarcastic side by his banter with Jonathan and his friends and despite her quietness El displays an inner confidence and bravery.
I also love the aspect of tragedy and forbidden love in them. Will falling in love with the girl who âtook his best friend away from himâ and El being unable to spend time with Will through being separated by him from Mike. Will secretly pining for El for all these years and El waiting for the opportunity to get to know Will better.
