woogyu the couple who has no schedule
First off just let me say if I am wrong about any of this please be understanding. The musical was in Korean with Japanese subtitles along the sides and bottom of the stage as if I’d ever look away from Sungkyu like really ppl. While I apparently watch enough kdramas to get a basic understanding I obviously didn’t know exactly what was happening at all times. ACT I Year 1324 Scene 1 / Featuring ?, Ensemble and Dracula / (song 1, 2, 3) At the beginning you see a bunch of people in cloaks singing a sad song. They go to a guy who kinda looks like a pope begging him. His warriors are about to attack them when Dracula comes busting in and starts battling everyone. He eventually kills this pope guy was kinda shocking really and I thought he was saving the cloaked people but they were killed too? Honestly I wasn’t thinking entirely straight at this point because all I could think was ‘damn that boy even looks good in long hair’. Scene 2 / Featuring Adriana, Pierre, Dracula and Ensemble / (song 4, 5, 6, 7) Adriana hands a letter she had written to Pierre asking him to take it Dracula. After he leaves she goes and picks up a bottle of ‘poison’. Only after drinking it and dramatically dying on stage does Dracula appear. Pierre also looks shocked that she has poisoned herself and the handmaidens are all crying as Dracula brings his lover’s dead boy into his arms and cries over her. He decides he wants to die with her and goes to stab himself with a dagger but even after stabbing himself he doesn’t die. Three demons appear and tell him that he is cursed and that he can not die. He has become the first vampire. Dracula rages at his fate and being separated from his love even in death. In his rage he grabs a handmaiden and bites her. When he went to throw her away she put her hand to his face and left a bloody mark along his cheek. While singing he bites other maidens who end up surrounding Pierre and bite him as well. Year 1624 Scene 3 / Featuring Lorain and Stephen / (no songs) Lorain is heading onto a ship and Stephen comes to stop her or see her. They talk briefly and you get the impression she is naive and cute and that he loves her and doesn’t want her to leave. The ship’s horn blows and she runs off. He swears to himself that he will follow her. Scene 4 / Featuring Lorain, Pierre, ? and Ensemble / (song 8) Next there is some kind of outdoor circus thing with four stands with curtains covering them saying they are different kinds of beasts like a wolfman and mermaid. What appears to be the male and female ring leaders are singing while common folk watch on. One by one the people inside the stands are revealed. The first is a giant gorilla, then a man in a wolf suit, a centaur and then the ‘mermaid’ looks more like a person who was eaten by a giant fish with their feet still sticking out. o.O The centaur was really funny flexing his muscles. Lorain walks up trying to find somewhere in particular and the circus people are trying to distract her and lure her inside but she is determined to find what she is looking for. It is becoming more and more obvious that they are vampires. She ends up leaving looking completely oblivious to the danger she just avoided. The vampires represent themselves by biting down on red cloth and letting it hang from their mouths. Scene 5 / Featuring Dracula, Lorain, Adriana and ? / (song 9, 10) Later we see Lorain walking through a forest holding a three piece candle stick. One of the demons comes up to her and scares her by blowing out, relighting and then taking her candles from her. Seeing the candles floating in midair Lorain gets scared and runs away. She hears someone coming but right before they get to her someone else pulls her behind the trees. It turns out to be the group of vampires from before. They are laughing and cackling while carrying a villager they had caught. After they pass Lorain and Dracula come out from behind the tree. He seems mildly curious about her and leads her to his castle. Inside they see two giant portraits of Adriana and Dracula. Lorain gets incredibly excited and recognizes them right away. She reveals that this was what she had been looking for. Apparently when she was child she managed to receive one of the couple’s secret love letters and dedicated herself to finding them. Excitedly she runs to the edge of the stage and starts calling out for Dracula. After she goes to scream again Dracula moves up and quiets her. Only then does she see the portrait behind him and puts two and two together. She is just about to confront him that he is indeed Dracula when suddenly she is frozen in place. Once frozen Dracula takes the letter from Lorain’s hands and has Pierre take her up to a room. Once he is alone Dracula sits down and reads the letter while getting emotional over his long lost love. Scene 6 / Featuring Lorain / (song 11) Lorain wakes up on a couch in a room. Slowly she starts to remember what she had only just learned and is excited to have finally found the mysterious Dracula. Suddenly Stephen appears, crawling in through an open window. He came to rescue her from the monster Dracula but Lorain doesn’t want to leave. This is what she had been searching for and she was so close to understanding it. Stephen tries to refuse but there is a knock at the door and he has to run away back out the window alone. The door opens and Pierre comes in with a long beautiful red dress for Lorain to wear. He tells her to put it on and leaves again. Once she is alone again Lorain gets excited and is so incredibly happy. She takes up the dress. Scene 7 / Featuring Dracula, Stephen, Lorain, Pierre and Ensemble / (song 12) Now we are looking at some local square. There are some normal people about to be attacked by the vampires but Stephen appears with his soldiers. They circle the vampires, letting the civilians escape, and prepare to battle. Lorain runs into the middle of them asking Stephen to stop and that they are not bad. Pierre tells her that humans will never understand and the vampires end up battling the vampires. Pierre takes Lorain off to safety. After watching Lorain run off Stephen kills several of the vampires and watches his men being bitten before he himself grabs a vampire and bites the vampire’s neck, choosing to become a vampire himself. ACT II Year 1924 Scene 8 / Featuring Lorain and Ensemble / (song 13) The setting is a casino. The ensemble is dancing and singing playfully holding large playing cards, again with red clothes hanging from their mouths and we know that really the vampires own this casino. It’s the circus all over again just with a new face. Lorain comes in with a glass of blood in her hand. She looks completely different and she seems much colder than she used to be. At one point she even grabs one of the vampires and bites them and drains more of their blood into her glass before walking over and putting it onto a tray a waiter is holding. Dracula is there looking on emotionless at the chaotic group. Lorain is obviously in love with him and has been all this time but acts slightly nonchalant about it. Suddenly Pierre calls Dracula from the side and says he needs to see him right away. The two run off and Lorain looks concerned. Scene 9 / Featuring Dracula / (song 14) Dracula is walking down a street looking at posters for a new musical called ‘Romeo & Juliet’. The story of two lovers who weren’t allowed to love each other and die together instead. He recounts that it is actually based off of his story with Adriana and feels heart broken all over again. Scene 10 / Featuring Sandra and Stephen / (song 15, 16 and 17) Sandra is on stage and reenacts the first scene where she took the poison and died but after a moment you hear applause and she gets up and bows to the crowd. She goes backstage to her dressing room and is dolling up when Stephen comes in. He asks her if she is Sandra and she says yes. (I may be wrong about this but this is what I understood) He tells her she is a wonderful actress and he admires her skills. She is happy but then he adds that he will pay her richly to plays the real role of Juliet. The role of Adriana. Then he leaves. She wonders if she or not but in the end decides to. Scene 11 / Featuring Stephen, ? and Ensemble / (song 18 and 19) Now we see Stephen and another guy (or the same guy??) who looks like a pope. We come to realize that Stephen is plotting with this man to destroy Dracula once and for all. He tells Stephen to go kill Dracula. Stephen, who seems to have become twisted over the ages, sings about how he will kill Dracula and get back what is his. Lorain? Scene 12 / Featuring Dracula, Sandra, Lorain and Ensemble / (song 20 and 21) We see Lorain in the castle alone. She seems nicer than she did in the casino and cheerful. She’s singing sweetly and walks over to a potted plant, picks it up and begins to sing to it when Pierre walks in. He is about to say something to her when suddenly Sandra walks in. As soon as Lorain sees her she drops the vase and leans down from hurting herself. Pierre begins to run to Sandra but stops and instead goes to Lorain. Dracula appears and Lorain watches on helplessly as he walks to Sandra. Pierre leads Lorain away leaving the couple behind. They begin to talk. Dracula asks her a question she doesn’t know the answer to so she suddenly fakes a headache. Instantly Dracula cares for his ‘love’. After a short moment of talking Dracula accepts that Sandra is Adriana and brings her away with him to his crypt. As the doors go to close the two kiss. (Idk if they really kiss. It looked pretty freaking real…) Right as they have gone inside Lorain runs up screaming. She runs to the crypt and bangs on it begging Dracula to come back out. She runs to the table Dracula had sat Sandra at to rest and grabs up a chair. She runs up the stairs to the door of the crypt and throws it as hard as she can. It makes a loud noise but no one answers. Scene 13 / Featuring Sandra, Lorain and Stephen / (song 22 and 23) Now we see Sandra standing outside singing to the moon about falling in love and we realize she too has fallen for Dracula. She debates with herself about if she should allow herself to love him but in the ends decides that she is ‘Adriana’ now. She is smiling peacefully in the gardens when Lorain comes running up to her. Screaming she grabs Sandra’s neck and begins choking her. She knows there is no way Sandra can really be Adriana and is just using Dracula’s broken heart to trick him. Pierre runs up and tries to separate the two. He is in the middle of doing this when Stephen appears with his warriors. They wrap Lorain up in chains to contain her, the soldiers struggling against her power. Pierre tries to help her but is wounded by Stephen. With Pierre lying on the ground wounded, Sandra at his side crying, Stephen admits that everything has gone according to plan. He will take Lorain away and if Dracula comes for her then he will kill him. To make his point he kills Pierre causing both girls to cry and scream. As she is being dragged away Lorain begs Sandra not to let Dracula come for her. The last thing we hear is Stephen’s insane cackling. Scene 14 / Featuring Lorain, Dracula, Stephen, Sandra and Ensemble / (song 24, 25 and 26) In a dark empty prison room (inside an empty church perhaps) Sandra is seen chained by both hands to the ground. She stands wearing rags. After a moment we realize that her face has been disfigured with two large slashes below her eyes bleeding. She sings about being trapped and we realize that she was blinded by Stephen (perhaps his personal commentary that she had been ‘blind all along’) She collapses to the ground crying out for Dracula. (This is when Dracula starts off in the audience walking slowly down the aisle. The moment I got to watch him walk so close to me that I couldn’t even breath *A*) Dracula, now seeing what has become of his Lorain, is horrified. He now realizes that he had her by his side all this time and never even realized. He goes to her, certain he will free her. Stephen appears with his warriors. After defeating them one by one (in an amazing battle scene!) Dracula, who has appeared to have been wounded in the end, goes to Stephen. The two battle only momentarily because Dracula is obviously weakened. Stephen stabs him once then again. The second time Dracula falls down the stairs halfway. Stephen is busy cackling at his success when suddenly the demons who had once cursed Dracula, grab Stephen. (I’m not sure why, perhaps because he technically killed his ‘maker’) They drag him into ‘hell’, him screaming as he is pulled down into the ground. With Stephen gone, Dracula struggles across the space to where Lorain is chained. He gets to her and weakly tries to break her chains but he is on the brink of death and doesn’t have the strength. He ends up collapsing down in front of her. With his last breath telling her that he is sorry. Only now seeming to realize that Dracula is there, Lorain finds his face and drags his head into her lap. Sobbing over him as he dies. Sandra runs in and sees the two. She comes up behind Lorain and the two sing about how they loved him and how they are sorry to him. The End.
