June 1, 2026 - Karamoja Apalis (Apalis karamojae) Found in parts of Uganda, these birds in the cisticola family live in savannas, shrublands, grasslands, and wetlands. Foraging in pairs or small flocks in shrubby vegetation, they are thought to eat mostly insects, though the details of their diet are unknown. Only one of their nests has been described, a closed cup with an entrance near the top built from cotton and spiderwebs in an acacia tree. They are classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN due to declines to their population caused by ongoing habitat loss and degradation.
