I think that even if only by a little Coiny’s trauma is worse than Pin’s. Sure, Pin spending months without a face or size is terrible, but if you compare that to a standard "Lava scene", the difference is stark: Pin was essentially trapped in a paralyzed body, whereas Coiny endured excruciating pain for just as long(IDFB showed us, he isn't immune to the agony of extreme heat) on top of the psychological torment. I mean, imagine watching your best friend’s corpse decompose right in front of you, yet choosing to believe she’s still alive simply because you’ve resigned yourself to being stuck in that place forever. The thing is, Pin’s situation was a consequence she actually deserved, whereas Coiny’s absolutely wasn't. Furthermore, one cannot compare Coiny’s traumas with Pin’s simply because, aside from her moronic behavior, Pin doesn't really have any. My point is that this fixation on Pin’s suffering, which is trivial by comparison, caught even the die-hard fans off guard; they’ve combed through the plot so thoroughly that they’ve come to believe Pin truly suffered more than Coiny (I won’t even get into the rest you know the score). As for his love to bfdia: Coiny likely harbors a hidden trauma(the kind of a trauma where a person isn't consciously aware of, where the effects simply manifest through their actions)resulting in a forced affection for the second season (I’m not saying Coiny absolutely hates bfdia, there are clearly fun moments, and I get that). In later seasons, Coiny speaks of it glowingly, yet never actually talks about it. He constructs an image of Pin as a heroic leader, transforming the person who once made him suffer (specifically the bfdia era version of her) into a hero. He tries to view bfdi through pink-colored glasses simply because he doesn't want to face the pain, hiding those memories not just from the public, but even from himself. Now, for my two favorite moments regarding this topic: the first is how Coiny reacted to Gaty’s literal suggestion to "talk about bfdia" I’m not sure if she brought up the aftermath of that season to support him or just to talk and help him feel better, but either way, Coiny’s reaction was sharply negative, no matter how much he loved that season. In fact, he was aggressive throughout that entire brief exchange. Later, during the argument in TPOT 2, Coiny flew into a rage because Pin "doesn't accept herself in bfdia" meaning she refused to view herself through pink-colored glasses; essentially, Coiny was forced to confront reality, especially when she told him to stop pretending. Doubts had clearly taken root in his mind by then, though he likely didn't fully realize it before Pin left — after all, he shouted after her, yet still greeted her warmly when she returned. This scene is already packed with meaning, especially following bfdia 18—when the reasons behind Pin's aggression finally became clear, but I think that once Pin finally spoke her mind about BFDIA, Coiny decided to stop looking back at the past through pink-colored glasses and never mentioned that season again. Yes, it might have been fun at times, but I think he eventually realized that it was traumatic for both of them — and the hidden trauma might well have stemmed from Pin. He may have assumed she was content with the situation, but once she broke down that wall of doubt, he was able to relax and stop dwelling on the past so often.
