To the world he was a handsome, genius composer yet to you, he was a million times that. He was considerate, never failing to text you in the morning from wherever he was in the world despite the pressures of work. He was courteous, thanking you for the smallest of gestures which others would merely skim over and forget. He was impartial, making sure to give his real opinion on anything he asked you about and not trying to sugar-coat it. Overall, he was someone whom others, and you, looked up to.

A sense of dread grew in your stomach whenever you realised you could not find any such qualities within yourself.
