Yeah I freaking love MeQuot, I ended up making a little reference image for how the guy looks in the Bunker Crew AU (though frankly it's kind of sloppily made; I wanted to take a break from work on the TROJAN HORSE 2026 MV to actually draw more stuff that I actually want to draw, but today had errands and also went into a food coma part way through the afternoon). I kind of made this as an excuse to give a bit of an in-depth look on how MeQuot fits into the Bunker Crew AU (I was struggling to come up with his backstory for a while), but I did finally come up with something that satisfied me, and I'll explain in more detail here.
ANYWAYS the explanation for why BunkerCrew!MeQuot looks like he's constantly bleeding out is because... well... uhh... he's undead. Though it's not quite the same kind of undeadness that Bhut/Ghost is dealing with. His undeadness comes from his sword, which may look quite ordinary to the casual observer, but actually doubles as a sort of "immortality drive" in addition to being a perfectly functional weapon. The sword got inside of MeQuot because he was stabbed through the heart as part of some sort of immortality-inducing rite (there was a misunderstanding; those that set up the rite thought that the sword gave immortality to the first person that killed with the blade, but in reality, the sword gave immortality to the first person killed BY the blade). The misunderstanding went unnoticed for years, but MeQuot's unwilling executioner, who was also his closest and really only friend, kept MeQuot's body in his possession for many months after leaving home not long after MeQuot's death.
The truth regarding the situation became apparent to the executioner when he noticed that he was still mortal and affected by the passage of time, while MeQuot, while comatose, never aged a day, as if he was perfectly embalmed and preserved. The executioner, in his grief, would sometimes talk to MeQuot's apparently dead body, and over time, it became apparent that the sword in MeQuot's body had a mind of its own, and it revealed the truth regarding the situation to the executioner. MeQuot was indeed now immortal, but he was in a coma because of the shock of his death along with no longer having any "fresh" blood in his system. His immortality basically ran on a sort of vampirism; MeQuot has to be exposed to fresh Civilian blood (either by consuming it orally or just having it drenched over his skin; he can soak up blood through his skin) to power whatever process the sword was using to keep him alive. However, the process only fully works if the sword is in MeQuot's body; if it's been removed, such as if MeQuot's currently wielding the sword or has it stored somewhere else, he's basically living off energy reserves that can only last for around a day and a half until he goes comatose again (and this time can be shorter if MeQuot is made to bleed or isn't "full"). That said, MeQuot can easily be brought back by being doused in blood, provided that the sword is in his body. The only way to kill him off for real is to destroy the sword...
...Anyways, MeQuot's executioner was pleased to finally have an answer on what to do, but he didn't initially go along with the sword's demands because he didn't want the group that made him do the failed immortality rite searching for him (and he'd also risk grabbing the attention of the law, since MeQuot was legally dead). That's not to say he didn't go along with bring back MeQuot as ALL, though. MeQuot woke up finally around 2 years after his death, finding himself baptized in blood on some sort of floating island with fascinating works of art on it. MeQuot suffered some noticeable amnesia, having no memory of the final days leading to his death, the identity of his killer, or even the time that passed between his death and his "rebirth", but he did at least recognize that he was reunited with his best friend- Devesto. MeQuot's doing quite well in Devesto's handcrafted personal paradise; it's divorced from the legal enforcements on Earth or any other realm, and it looks like Devesto's been able to work out how to keep MeQuot on a supply of blood without having to delve too much into murder or other legally dubious stuff like that. MeQuot isn't too pleased regarding his immortality, viewing it as a curse due to the "vampire" stigma he gets because of it, but his new life isn't that sad, because he at least gets to still be with his best friend who will live on for who knows how long beside him... though MeQuot is also living in the ignorant bliss that Devesto was the man who killed him in the first place (It's Devesto's self-proclaimed "dirtiest secret", though MeQuot might find it out some day).
