@a-redharlequin asked Coldflash: Marriage of Convenience + Curse + Prison
This unconventional answering totally ISNāT because i posted to a deactivated blog, not at all.
Anyway my first thought was āthis is literally beauty and the beastā which wouldnāt that be fun but then they added āin spaceā in the discord so likeā¦
This is a true sci-fi setting, Earths been destroyed for years and humanity lives in the pockets throughout space. Lenoard Snart - a human with no home planet constantly getting into trouble with alien species that want all humans dead, want him specifically dead, or just want to kill and he happens to be there - is limping through space after an unadvised hyper jump due to reasons above. Heās alone, having disengaged from the rest of the rogues in an attempt to split the enemies attention so all ships (Mick also made a diversion flight) could get away. It worked, but not before his navigation was fired.
So, ill-advised hyperspace flight. A limping ship, no navigational systems. Heās spat out when his ship literally canāt hold it together anymore - into the middle of bum fuck no where space where even his comms wonāt work. Lenās starting to think heās going to freeze to death, his oxygen long outlasting his heat systems.
Then he sees it.
Itās the nicest ship heās ever seen and itās dead in the water. Knowing he doesnāt have much of a choice, Len tries to hail it. No response. Still not having much of a choice, he decides to board it. The ship is completely empty but immaculate. It even powers on when he reaches the controls.
āI didnāt think anyone would find this hunk of junk.ā The voice has him turning around, gun raised at a smirking man that glitches for a moment.
āA holodiary?ā Len asks, rolling his eyes at the clicheness of it all, and the hologram laughs.
āNot quite.ā It says, replying to him. Lenās loosing grip on his gun immediately tightens.
āThen what, some AI that went crazy?ā He guesses next, knowing the gun is useless if thatās the case.
āSomething like that. Do humans still have demons in their folklore? I think Demons the best describer.ā
āA demon? In the middle of no where?ā
āA demon in desperate need of a deal then.ā The no-so-hologram brushes him off. āAnd you look like a human in desperate need of a ship. A win-win, really.ā
āI donāt need to make a deal to hotwire a ship.ā
āItās a bit too high-tech to hotwire Iām afraid.ā The demon grins, looking rather proud of the ship heād just called a hunk of junk. āIf you make a deal with me, Iāll make you captain. The ship will respond to your every word.ā
āWhatās in it for you?ā Len asks, narrowing his eyes at a deal that sounds too good to be true.
āHuman form.ā The man says, suddenly looking almost wistful before the expressions gone. āYour life and our deal will sustain it, but you should barely notice the energy.ā He adds, much more perky. Len considers his options and, as the energy warning in his suit flashes, he relents that he doesnāt have much of a choice. Thatās three times in a row, he hates it.
āAlright.ā He agrees. āHow do we seal this?ā The demon seems almost taken back at how quick he answers.
āA kiss.ā He admits and then hesitates. āHumans still have marriage right? Because thereās a few more rules I forgot to mention, they line up with a pretty traditional monogamous marriage. I mean, Iām pretty sure neither of us have many options right now, your ship doesnāt seem to be doing well, but thought I should add that in.ā Heās rambling as he says it and Len gets the impression he wasnāt going to add that part in. Not a very good demon, if heās leaving in the fine print. But heās right, Len doesnāt have many options. Even if he did, itās not like he has long standing partner or even friends with benefits. If the demons human form is anything like his hologram form, itāll be an improvement.
āIām sure Iāll manage.ā Len says, after making sure to be obvious as he looks the demon up and down. Maybe hologram form isnāt accurate, considering the way he blushes.
āWell then, uh,ā Len chuckles as the hologram hesitates.
āDidnāt think this far ahead?ā He guesses, slipping his helmet off as the oxygen in the ship raises to breathable amounts before stepping in close and pressing their lips together. Itās an odd kiss, feeling as the lips against his turn physical and the ships wakes up, but itās not a bad one.
āLetās get out of here.ā He announces as they pull apart and the ship immediately responds.
Thisāll be an interesting one to explain to the crew.
ā
You may notice poison is missing, thatās because I got carried away and have to leave now. I will be back to finish it off soon!
