D.C. Conspiracy will host another Comics Creators Meet‑Up! April 26. Come hang out, talk shop, and catch up with fellow cartoonists. Plus, we’re turning it into a mini‑comic swap.

Bring any comics you’ve made: new, old, experimental, really anything. It’s a low‑pressure hang with people who get what you do. Share your work, chat, and grab a drink. (And totally cool to come empty‑handed.)

You might know local artist Rafer Roberts (aka @plasticfarm) from his super creepy Nightmare the Rat series in Magic Bullet, or from that “Thanos & Darkseid: Carpool Buddies of Doom” comic he did, or from his backup stories in Shutter, Tiger Lawyer and otherwise. But now he’s writing Archer & Armstrong! He’ll be leading one of our Comix Workshops this month as part of a signing here at Fantom on March 26–be there.

Gotham Academy vol. 2 - Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher, Karl Kerschl

The impending release of this vol. 2 made us realize we’ve never done a Gotham Academy book club! So we’re fixing that by doing one on April 17. DOOO IT. If you haven’t checked out this super underrated “Hogwarts in Gotham” teen mystery series yet, we’ve got vol. 1 at the store.

Amazing Forest #3 - Ulises Fariñas, Erick Freitas, Job Yamen, Skuds McKinley, Austin Breed, Zoe Crockett

In 4 days you can donate blood to the American Red Cross on Halloween and receive a complimentary original sketch from a local cartoonist. This event is hosted by DC chapter @nationalcartoonists and takes place at Seekers Church near Takoma Metro.

Since it’s Halloween, you are welcome to wear a costume as long as you can roll a sleeve up to the elbow. Hope to see you this Saturday.

Check it out! We had the great experience of using the MLK Library's Espresso Book Machine to print an anthology of DC Conspiracy comics! Presented with the DC Library Press, it comes in at 76 pages, with 17 artists, including an introduction to the EBM, so that you can make a book of your own. We'll be selling copies at the D.C. Author Festival at the MLK Library on October 24 (http://dclibrary.org/DCAuthorFest), but it will be available afterward, too, for those who can't make it downtown.
