Supergirl is my favorite superhero of all time, so of course I had to go see her movie as soon as humanly possible.
So, my honest review for Supergirl (2026) is that it is a lot of fun. It’s not a perfect adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow, which is a bit of a disappointment for those of us who adore that story, but this is still a pretty solid superhero flick. There are pacing issues, the aesthetic in parts seems a little dry but the movie itself is not nearly as ugly as I’ve seen people saying online. Some of the dialogue is a bit awkward, but I actually think I’ve come to expect that from superhero movies at this point. It’s a solid popcorn flick that I am very glad young girls seem to be falling in love with, because that’s sort of who Supergirl has always been for.
What I did love was Alcock as Supergirl. She was so perfect I had tears in my eyes for absolutely no reason at random moments because that was my Kara Zor-El up there on the big screen for the first time in my life time. The one that I fell in love with as a kid and have hunted down and read every page of comic she appears on. I’m really optimistic that we’re going to get to see a lot more of her in the future.
And I also have to say, David Corenswet is such a good Clark Kent it makes my heart hurt a little. I start grinning like an idiot whenever he’s on screen. I cannot wait to see the House of El together for real next year in Man of Tomorrow.
My genuine reaction to the movie from my review blog. Not perfect but worth a watch for fans of the character.
