My Story
Hey Friends,Ā
I have not kept up with this blog but I am starting up my 2018 fitness journey again after getting hit with the flu so I think this would be as good a time as any to start this up as well. Getting back into writing is so important to me as well as empowerment and I believe this blog is a great outlet for that, even if only 1 person is reading, its so worth it to me.
I read an instagram post a few days ago while I was scrolling through some transformation pictures. I thought it was interesting because there was a huge text caption that went along with it. Because it was instagram I rolled my eyes and started to scroll past, who really goes on insta to read an essay? No one. But, as I scrolled through, I caught some words that made me stop and I ended up reading a good portion of it.Ā
I think we underestimate the value of a back story. Itās what makes a person youāve never met someone you can relate to. So, I decided I needed to put out my story, not only for you all to read but also as a cathartic reflection on how I got here. Reflection is good... in manageable doses.Ā
Ever since I was a child, my parents always had me in after school activities and Saturday events, which almost always mainly revolved around sports. I carried that into my high school years, playing 3 sports year round and sometimes doing travel and high school teams at the same time. I never had to think about staying in shape, it came so naturally. That allowed me to indulge and eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. And to be honest, not that Iām blaming her, but my mom never taught me to control that or how to eat right. Iām 5ā²3 and at my best weight I was about 135 pounds.
So I carried the bad eating habits with me into college but I didnt play sports. I was studying engineering and felt extremely overwhelmed my first year because I never had to try to do well in school. Pair that stress, with my bad eating habits along with a terrible lifestyle of no working out, unlimited food at the dining hall and binge drinking, and the weight started coming on pretty quickly.
When I graduated college I think I was at around 155 lbs. I had about 2 months between graduation and starting work and I put on about 5 pounds in that time. I moved out from Jersey to the Midwest for my 1st year at work and I lost 10 pounds cooking for my self and working out 2 hours a day because I didnāt know anyone and didnāt have much else to do. Then my work schedule got turned upside down and I had to work nights. I stayed around 155 the whole time but had terrible sleeping and eating habits.Ā
I got transferred back to Jersey for my 2nd year at work and got up to 165. Iāve been there ever since and just canāt seem to get myself below 160 again.Ā
Iāve since moved once more and have been in Vermont for about 5 months. My current weight is about 168 pounds. Iām going on a trip in March and would like to be at around 150-155 with the ultimate goal weight being 135-140.Ā
I am trying to focus on my eating habits and will be starting the BBG workout.Ā
Thatās my story and those are my goals and I need you all to keep me accountable! Looking forward to taking this journey with you :)
