I ended up going with a completely different idea for my movie poster then I was originally thinking. I still kept the skull in my background but you can’t tell. I decided on a 90s band theme using a photo of my ex and his band Croatoan and a photo of my daughter and her friends. I put them together and used a photo I took of the city, a painting and scan of my computer bag as a background. The main thing mentioned in my critique was that perhaps a different color would have worked better for the type so it doesn’t fade into the dark as much. Overall I love how it came out.

I also built a physical version of this mask for my 3D Design class so I’ve included photos of the final mask for that class including one of me wearing it. :)

Final color version of my mask at this point. I love it and I don’t so may make some changes before really calling it done.

Final version of the black and white version of my mask. I did all of the work using 3 layers shown here. I used some pattern to differentiate coloring and shadows.

Next I traced the mask in Illustrator and worked on the first part of the mask project which is a black and white version. Turns out NO grey allowed so I had to rethink my idea and how to redo it in only black and white.

First I took a photo of the mask I am making/made in my 3D Design class and then I turned it black and white to better see the shadows and shading.

I have to build a mask in my 3D Design class so I’m thinking to carry the same concept I am doing for that into the mask for Digital Art. These are photos of the physical mask I am building in my 3D class.

Here I chose an image and created my own color swatches and gradient from the colors in the image.

The finished animation. I’m not totally happy with it but glad that it al least moves. lol. 

Progress from my mini animation.

In the second week of class we again used the shape tools to design a name tag for ourselves. We then grouped the shapes in each letter into one so they could all be moved as one. Finally we grouped all of the letters together as one to be able to move the entire name as one. In the bottom picture you can see all of the individual shapes used for each letter. In the middle picture I have grouped all of the shapes together and then used the shape builder tool to merge them into one shape. The top photo is the final version.

The next task was to design the same elephant in Illustrator using the same shapes we used with the construction paper. 

First project of my Digital Art Fundamentals class was to create an animal out of construction paper using only the shapes from the shape tool in Adobe Illustrator. I was in a group with the people on either side of me, Alex and Mali. We cut out shapes and moved them around to make this elephant. The task seemed impossible when we first started but amazingly within half hour we actually did it and I love our black and yellow elephant. Our professor Joyce Dallal called him elegant. :)
