25 Things you can do to help your local ecosystem
Plant native plants in your garden
Magnet Fishing
Eat invasive fish like carp and lionfish. I heard lionfish is actually really good, and carp isn't bad for you health, that is merely rumor.
Go beach cleaning
Keep pets indoors at night
Squash invasive bugs
Fill birdfeeders with treats and seed for native birds
Visit proper nature reservations, conservations, animal rescues, and zoos. You can find some really neat places locally that you never knew existed. Like in my state there are wolf rescues for wolf-dogs and wounded wolves that can't be returned to the wild.
Hunt the proper animals during hunting seasons
Spay and neuter your outdoor-indoor cats
Make a wildlife garden (a small garden or patch of yard that you don't de-weed, and allow natural local weeds to build up)
Pick invasive weeds
Collect and turn in (or rehome) invasive reptilian animals you find
Learn about your local protected species
Build replicas of natural ponds, especially in areas where backyard pools are common, as many small creatures will avoid the pool and its chemicals if there's a nearby alternative
Volunteer/donate to your local animal shelters
Support Trap-Neuter-Return programs in your area
Construct or set up bee hotels (often meant for carpenter bees)
Advocate for your county/region to keep their local rivers, lakes, and coasts clean. You can sometimes look up the quality of your local water source, but be warned, the state of your drinking water might scare you if you're in the United States
Go spear-fishing or kina fishing for your local invasive sea life, or support those who work in the business and conservation chain that depletes these creatures
Similarly to the last one, support ethical fishing & crabbing groups, and follows the rules of returning tagged and notched sea animals
Recycle
Participate in restoration/cleaning events
Plant trees, preferably local ones, and even more preferably research if a tree has become invasive/problematic in your area such as Eucalyptus in California
Don't support PETA whatsoever
Found a full set of furniture while magnet fishing in the harbor. Behold the barnacle throne.

Date idea: What if we went magnet fishing in the River Thames?
(via Home / X)
for those unaware today india experienced one of its biggest protests in half a decade. there were protests all over the nation for various causes but the major one was in delhi. all we asked for was the resignation of the education minister because he's failed the students of this nation time & time again. but we were met with brutality, the police had barricaded the main site of protest (jantar mantar). metro stations were shutdown, the public was restrained from reaching the protest site and all the adjoining areas had signal jammers to make sure the crowd had no access to constant updates. they had us blocked from all the sides. they were lathi (baton) charging students from one side & releasing tear gas from the other. you couldn't walk 100 m on streets without having a tear gas shell thrown at you. there were many students, women & kids bleeding — some from their head. some couldn't walk anymore. the police had removed their nameplates, covered their faces & acted with full impunity to resort to unprecedented levels of violence. they were pelting stones at us, beating up people for no reason, forcefully detaining them and attacking us constantly with tear gas & rubber bullets. they wouldn't let you exit either. the crowd was peaceful & looking out for each other yet they were met with violence. i made a friend who was all alone & she asked to join me & my friend because a policeman wouldn't leave her alone. he constantly prodded her for personal info, invited her back to the jeep saying they have food there, wouldn't stop following her around. you couldn't call or ask anyone for help, we were left to fend for ourselves & be on a constant lookout if you did not want to be beaten up to death by police. all for what? asking a resignation? shame on this country.
but have you ever even heard of the fynbos biome ?!!?!?!?!
a biome so unique in south africa that it's earned an entirely new biome classification for itself. so many plants are endemic to this area, and ofc it's under threat of extinction.
I have heard of it because I live in it 🫶🇿🇦
Also fynbos isn't just unique to South Africa, it's actually only unique to the western coast of South Africa specifically.
Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.

“Omg, I love these! They go up to size 6X AND they have pockets?! Wow!! But do you have anything longer?”
Sure do, no problem!!
“YES these are great!!! But what about.. longer?”
I gotcha!! Comin’ right up!
"Now that's what I'm talkin' about! But... how about if I'm feeling like it's the kinda day where I need my clothing to be bifurcated???"
Never fear, joggers are here!
