For me, it's because, as a child, I was incredibly cranky, and as soon as caffeine-free Coke was introduced, Mom had me start drinking that, and, hey, I got a lot less crabby, so that made me want to avoid caffeine. I also never really cared for the smell of coffee, either, so had absolutely no interest in drinking even decaf.

(and yes I am very aware that "it makes me feel better" and "love the way it smells" are top answers in why people do drink it XD)

#a couple times i tried my moms coffee as a kid but i didnt like the taste #and like she wasn't giving us soda as kids #and as i got older i realized even caffinated soda made me feel like SHIT #so i avoid caffeine all together #i do like the smell of coffee but not the taste so thats not a problem #if i did want to drink caffeine i'd probably go for tea #i used to sometimes have decaf english breakfast tea at my old job which i really liked #but yeah it make my brain feel very fast and my body feel tired #i get a twitchy eye too #when i started college i would indulge in dr pepper at the dining hall soda machines #just a little bit at a time #but i had a persistent eye twitch within a week
