its like i hated the season too but its so embarrassing that the ppl who are saying "i'm gonna go to sdcc and grill them about it" are the ones who are like mad that louis apologized to armand bc they think the story is saying that he owed armand that apology. like if they wanted you to think an apology was deserved he would've offered it freely like he did 5 billion times with lestat (which i'm ACTUALLY mad about lmao) instead of having to get beheaded and tortured to say anything. like theres so much to actually say and literally when the panel got announced the first thing i said was "lol this is the one time i will ever actually WANT to hear audience questions" but i fear the Type Of Person who actually wants to get up and ask questions at a panel is not going to change and i'm very scared that anyone who does go up and say anything critical is going to focus on bullshit like "why was my favorite ship sidelined" or misinterpretations of stuff that actually WAS handled fairly decently.

im so fascinated by how streaming has changed the landscape of kids media specifically. like when i was a kid there wasn't really anything from 20 years ago that was Actively Popular unless it was something that was continually rebooted like ninja turtles & my little pony, or comic book characters like spiderman (or when i was younger, longstanding institutions like sesame street). but now its 2026 and avatar the last airbender is Still Extremely Relevant because kids are Still Watching It rather than watching whatever is on tv right now. because if they are watching tv at all instead of youtube its probably on streaming and because there's so much continued relevance i dont get the impression that it has the same feeling of "oh this is an old dated show that my parents grew up on." and like yeah there have always been reboots of stuff, specifically to rework a brand for a New Generation Of Kids, but i feel like so much kids media right now is NOT reboots but specifically REVIVALS and continuations. like these avatar movies that are coming out (ugh) are just picking up from the last one. and theres plenty of kids who weren't born until after atla finished airing that know all about it and love it.

even the fact that theyre making descendants spinoffs TEN YEARS after the first one came out. because theres a fandom culture around it so the kids who grew up on it are becoming young adults NOW and still watching them and following the cast online (i got into descentants right when it came out when i was 15 and its so interesting looking at the difference between the online fan culture then of people who grew up on hsm and were watching it as teens and adults vs the online fandom NOW made up of kids who grew up watching it)

#idk its interesting! like tv isn't restricted to whats being made in the moment you are a kid because its SO accessible to watch older stuff #like i watched 90s pokemon on library vhs tapes but we had to go out of our way to do that #mostly watched diamond and pearl bc that was what was on tv #but anyway the unfortunate flip side of that is that tv thats being made NOW is suffering i fear #there are so few shows that i feel like have real cultural relevance with kids #and thats a bummer because theres a lot of good stuff out there that flies under the radar!#r.txt
