So the Netflix Tomb Raider show is fine and fun… but it completely failed to learn the lessons of the most recent games. Those worked so well because they were relatively self-contained in an area, with well done myths that fit into history without overwriting it. Yamatei and Kitezh in particular both had well grounded reasons to have faded into myth and the supernatural elements were interesting and powerful additions but not end of the world stuff, and even at those civilizations height there were obvious reasons they weren’t conquering the world. Shadow gets away from that a bit, but it’s still pretty in-line with that idea. . The show goes so far the other way though. Multiple deities, worldwide calamities, jumping around the world episode to episode. And yes I know that’s what the older games were like, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. I mean, the villain in S2 wants to reduce the population but given the level of catastrophes that were unfolding in S1 how is it not already? A single hurricane causes massive destruction, so if you have those happening everywhere plus earthquakes, blizzards, volcanoes, and literal fire falling from the sky it’s going to be apocalyptic in a lot of places. It actually would’ve been interesting to explore. Instead S2 basically ignores everything except Lara’s character growth.

So since everyone loves gay witches I wanted to call your attention to two other series, featuring gay witches that actually get to be canonically gay. As much as I love Little Witch Academia, it’d have been even better if they could have been officially gay. Witch Hat Atelier might actually go there though, I’ll hold out hope til it doesn’t happen. Here’s two series that do canonically have wlws(witch loving witches).
