The best analogy for ai that I ever saw is comparing art to running a marathon. It’s something you practice for, you can run for fun or competitively, you can run full marathons or short sprints. You can spend years training, or just every so often. The point is you start in one place and get somewhere else through hard work. Calling AI images “art” is like driving a marathon and saying it counts as running one. Sure, you got to the same place, but you’re still not a runner and you couldn’t actually run that same distance. Sure, the car is a tool, but it’s not going to help you get to the finish line by yourself. You haven’t run the marathon. Also it’s bad for the environment and over reliance weakens your muscles/creativity.

I don’t get people who like AI content because when I watch something, or read something, or look at a painting, I want to see what the artist CHOSE to make, not what the AI did for them. I want to see the brushstrokes they made. I want to read the words they chose. I want to love the story they chose to tell and the way they chose to tell it. Art is about conveying things, and I don’t want to know what an AI regurgitated. I want to know what the artist choose to say with their art, in whatever way they chose to say it.
