When Hermione realized she was pregnant, fear began to rise within her. Would Severus want the child? But Hermione's fear had been unfounded. After a bit of shock, Severus began to cry. His life had been dominated by pain, suffering, sadness and death and now his wife gave him the most beautiful news that brightened his life. The darkness that had accompanied him for so long had finally been banished by a little baby that would soon be born. The first time Severus held his little son in his arms, he couldn't believe that this baby was his son. Hermione was incredibly happy when she saw how proud Severus was of his little son and especially of her. Her little miracle was very similar to his father, because the little man had inherited the skeptical "Snape look" and he always made Hermione laugh with it. The couple lay in bed cuddling with their son. "I love you," Severus said, almost in a whisper. Hermione raised an eyebrow, smiling teasingly at him. "After all this time?" Severus' smile widened. "Always."

"Headmaster and war hero Professor Severus Snape and his wife Hermione Granger - Snape are expecting their first child" - that's what it said in the Daily Prophet. He actually hated posing for photos like that, but he did it for his wife. After recovering from his serious neck injury, he had married his "queen." Although Severus usually looked really serious, in the photo for the Daily Prophet he smiled proudly. Maybe because Hermione cuddled up to him like that. They had been through so much together, and Hermione had now understood his reasons for wanting to bring her to safety, and that it had not been an easy decision for him and that he had always expected that she would love him less because of it, which had taught Hermione: If you love, you have to let go and she loved him even more for this.

The last few weeks had been very stressful, but Hermione smiled with relief because Severus was alive. Ever since the trio found Severus, Hermione had never left Severus' side. Neither Harry nor Ron understood that she and Severus were a couple, but that didn't matter to Hermione, all that mattered to her was that Severus was alive and could get well again. It wasn't about it happening quickly either, Severus really needed time to get well again because his body had suffered extremely from the injuries. Severus was in a coma for weeks and a lot of time passed before he could even perceive anything again. It was still very difficult for him to speak, but neither he nor Hermione needed many words. The couple was just happy to be close again and that was the most important thing.

Cold and dark. Everything around Severus felt cold and dark. Breathing became more difficult by the second. He felt the blood on his neck and it wasn't warm, his blood burned like fire on his neck. Severus heard his breathing rattle as he expelled air through his mouth with great force. Was that it? Would he die now? Severus heard screams, seemingly far away, panicked wishes and other wizards falling lifeless to the ground... a kind of relief spread through Severus when he heard that the Dark Lord had been destroyed, but Severus himself was fighting with his life, he heard Hermione scream, she tore herself away from Potter and Weasley. "Severus!" she shouted, but his voice failed and he couldn't answer her. Before everything around him went dark, he saw Hermione's shadow, heard her crying and her trying to help him. Severus smiled weakly before he lost consciousness...

Hermione and Severus left the school in silence. Hermione had tried again and again to talk to him, but Severus had clearly signaled to her that he would no longer talk to her about this topic and yet he took Hermione in his arms. When she felt him close, Hermione began to cry. She didn't see that the situation and the decision to bring Hermione to safety wasn't easy for him, but Hermione sensed his tension. "I want to stay with you, Severus..." But Severus looked at the forest floor, he couldn't look at her. "I won't talk to you about this anymore. Please go to your friends, far away from me." She tried to look at his face. "Severus... you are..." He placed his hand on her shoulder. "Please go." Hermione wanted to grab his hand, stop him, but he blurred into the air, she could still see this seemingly dark cloud moving away from her. Hermione didn't want to go back to Ron and Harry, but that was what Severus wanted her to do. She sank to the ground crying. "I don't want to lose you... my prince..."

"Is everything ok?" Severus lay next to Hermione the whole time with a visibly tense expression on his face. Something seemed to be bothering him since they got up. "Please talk to me." Severus sighed heavily. "Hermione, I'm going to walk you out of school tonight, you're not safe here." Hermione was shocked. "No, I won't, I won't leave you alone Severus, I need you. Here with me." Severus couldn't look at her again. "Don't contradict me Hermione, I want you to leave the school. You are not safe here." Hermione had tears in her eyes. "Neither do you. Severus please." Severus stood up. "I said no, don't argue with me." Before she could say anything else, he had already disappeared into his bathroom. His words hit Hermione hard. Shouldn't she be afraid for him? She looked sadly at the place where he had just been lying, then she began to dress dejectedly, constantly fighting back tears. Why couldn't they just fight together? Why did he push her away now? She searched for answers, but the only answer was worry and fear for him.

Hermione and Severus couldn't stop smiling. What they had just done may have been extremely reprehensible on a moral level, but they had no regrets. The air was still burning, the two of them's lust had triumphed over their reason. As much as the hell and suffering of the war raged outside this room, the two of them's feelings for each other raged in this room. "Severus... I... I love you." She closed her eyes, breathing heavily. Was it wrong to confess her love to him now? "I love you too...Hermione." When she heard these words, she had tears in her eyes. He loved her too and he hadn't called her "Granger" - no Severus called her first name. She knew that he of all people wasn't open about his feelings, but that moment was burned into her soul for eternity. But Severus was also raging, their words felt so good, it wasn't even what they had just done, no... it was their honestly meant words that brought tears to his eyes. "Severus, you're crying? Is everything okay?" Severus laughed uncertainly. "Y-yes. You know I... don't handle emotions very well. I..." Hermione put a finger on his lips and snuggled up to Severus. "Good night my prince." Severus smiled softly, knowing exactly what she was referring to. "Good night, my queen."

The last few weeks had been hell for Hermione, Hermione had missed him so much, she had missed everything about Severus. But now all she could do was smile. The pain, the fear and the worry for him. He may have been Albus Dumbledore's murderer, but one thing Hermione knew, Severus Snape didn't do anything without a reason. However, Hermione was jolted out of her thoughts in a more than pleasant way. His lips on her neck, on her face and that hot breath in her ear made Hermione smile. "Don't stop," she purred at him, and Severus laughed softly. It wasn't just Hermione who felt this way, Severus had also suffered in the last few weeks, not just because of his actions, no... he had been worried about Hermione, but he had to show his role as the headmaster who was loyal to Voldemort, perfectly maintained. Severus had longed for Hermione. But now it was Hermione who broke him out of his thoughts by kissing him passionately and straddling him. The couple had played with fire and burned themselves, but that didn't stop them from doing what they longed to do.

Not long after their reunion, their lips found each other. Severus was very reserved at first, but with each further touch Severus became bolder and returned her kisses. They were alone, no one would disturb them. These kisses were so different than their first kiss. Hermione and Severus wanted more, they wanted to feel each other. Hermione slowly undid the buttons on his frock coat, his fingers sliding over her shoulders, pushing the cloak down. Hermione put her arms around his neck and pressed herself against him. It may have been morally reprehensible, but for the lovers, this moment was all that mattered in times of war and death.

Severus was back! Hermione couldn't believe he was back at Hogwarts after everything that had happened. The last few weeks had been hell for Hermione. Hermione hadn't hesitated for a minute when she received a message from Severus. As soon as he opened the door, Severus felt Hermione on his tense body. It broke his heart when Severus heard her sobbing. Trembling, Severus placed his hands on her back. The last few weeks had also been very painful for Severus. The longing for her, the love and the worries... he actually hid every feeling deep inside himself, it was almost as if he was wearing a kind of mask behind which he hid everything. There were so many words to say, but Hermione and Severus held each other in their arms. This moment that was just so precious for the couple simply because they could be close after weeks of fears and worries.

"Severus please don't do that." Hermione couldn't believe it, Severus was supposed to kill Albus Dumbledore! Severus couldn't look at Hermione. He had tried desperately to make her understand that he had to do it! "I... have my orders Granger... otherwise the Dark Lord won't trust me, please go and get to safety, it's too dangerous for you Hermione." He looked to the side again. There were tears in his eyes. Her hand on his arm... she wanted to stop him from doing what he had to do. Severus turned around and kissed her. "Forgive me..." He quickly turned away so he wouldn't have to see her tears. Severus took a few steps and stopped briefly. He knew about her conversations with Potter. "I am the Half-Blood Prince." He heard Hermione hold her breath in shock. Before she could say anything else, he continued on his way to do what he had to do: kill Albus Dumbledore.

Severus silently approached Hermione and put his arm around her. The conversations around them stopped. He had made a promise to Hermione. When he was ready, he would come to her side and show everyone that he was the man at her side. They had often argued because Severus refused to show his feelings openly. Hermione had resisted her feelings for him for a long time, but Hermione had given up.

Their first kiss had been shy, cautious. Severus suffered from his own feelings for this woman, he had not thought it possible to have these feelings for another person, after these feelings had already ended in unspeakable suffering for everyone involved.

Severus felt something like a certain pride as he held his beloved Hermione in his arms, the Potions Master gently pulled Hermione close to him. After all this hard time, the painful war, the hatred that threatened to break everyone again, Severus showed his love for a woman who knew his suffering only too well, but who also loved him as he was and he loved her as well valued and loved people, regardless of their origins.

Worried and with a skeptical expression, Severus looked at the others. When he ran to Hermione, everyone else stopped. He gently took Hermione in his arms and pulled her close to him.

They finally found the trio! When Hermione had seen Severus she had had to hold back her tears and even though their feelings for each other were now more than just public, it felt good to be held in the arms of the man she loved.

Hermione was touched by the fact that Severus had shown his feelings, that he held her like that and didn't want to let go, which did her an incredible amount of good after escaping Hogwarts. She didn't miss the fact that Ron in particular was looking at her and Severus with disgust, but for Hermione the only thing that mattered was her Severus.

The couple fight side by side against the enemies that stand in their way. Hermione and Severus protect each other and their love gives them strength to fight against their enemies.

Hermione looks at him with a smile. "Thanks for having my back Snape."

He laughed, took her hand, hinted at a kiss.

"Sneaking up behind you is my job Granger."

Hermione laughed and snuggled up to him.

"Oh Professor..." Severus laughed and proudly put his arm around her.

"Come on Granger, we still have some enemies waiting to be killed."

Hermione smiled diabolically.

"As my headmaster wishes," she purred to him.

Severus was so damn proud of Hermione, there was so much more to her than just the bookworm and he was happy to have Hermione at his side in battle!

Severus realized for the first time that he was loved and if he wasn't in her arms he would surely have fainted from the feelings.

Her love, her closeness and the feelings she triggered in him almost drove him crazy.

Severus' life had been filled with suffering, pain and sadness and this incredible woman managed to break through his emotional wall and it was so right.

Severus smiled relieved and above all happy and loved.
