reblog to send your mutuals a hug. maybe just the thought is enough to cheer them up 🥺
Me: I have too many library books out. I will never be able to finish these all before they’re due. I somehow have three separate serieses out and can’t decide which one is more urgent. This is overwhelming
Also me: ooo add book to hold
I wonder how it’s going in the universe where people decided to say ahoy when answering the phone instead of hello. Do you think they’ve achieved world peace?

Getting worried because I had originally set Lighthouse in the early 13th century ish but a lot of their clothes are actually more late 14th century which is a whole like 150 apart from the armor I planned (which, y’know, doesn’t even appear on the page but still) and I am trying to remind myself that it does not matter because 1. It is fantasy, there are wizards and faeries and things and 2. No one actually reads it anyways
Reblog this photo of a käpylehmä to have a käpylehmä in your blog
It's a trick! If you reblog you get TWO käpylehmäs in your blog!
They're traditional Finnish toys, little cows made out of spruce cones, on their way to see the world from one tumblr blog to another
I still kind of think that in fiction where the world has a pantheon of multiple gods including some who are believed to be or implied to be or definitely are hostile to the characters the piece follows it doesn't make any sense to replace moments where many people in our more usually monotheistic world would say "God" as an oath with "gods" because invoking any or all of the gods indiscriminately sounds like a dumb thing to do if some of them have beef with you. You're just asking for trouble doing that. Now if people commonly move through the world without having beef with any of the gods, sure, maybe language would evolve such that people would just casually swear by all of them, but once you have active beef maybe you need to join the cult for your favorite and start invoking that one specifically. Or just say "zounds." One of them has definitely been injured at some point. Possibly the one who is after you, though.
which costume would you rather wear? (1893)

requested by: anon
request: 19th century womenswear inspired by naval themes such as ships, sailing, and the seas (either more with a uniform appearance or more costume-y)
commentary from the curator: I ended up combining the two options and going for theatre costumes that take inspiration from uniforms (and also sailing more generally). these are both from a production of HMS Pinafore, and I hope they fit what you were looking for! if not, please feel free to send in another request! ☺️
Okay add Train Blindness up there with Bustle Blindness as the results of my historical endeavors because I am working on a new petticoat with about a foot long train and I tried it on and was looking in the mirror like “🫤 is that even a proper train though, it looks like just a little bit of a sweep”

of course, the best part of any character's corruption arc is their cool new outfit
I was talking to my husband the other day and, as a random example of a boring topic that nobody at a party would want to hear about, I happened to come up with, “The history of wheelbarrows.”
But then my husband and I got curious and decided to look up the history of wheelbarrows, and we both thought it was surprisingly interesting.
The very next day, we were visiting a thrift store with family and my sister spotted a toy wheelbarrow for her son, and my husband said, “Did you know that Jesus was older than wheelbarrows? They weren’t invented until around 100 CE.”
This is why curious people are my favorite type of people. No topic is really that boring when you look into it. And everything is more interesting when you talk about it with someone you love.
