If I had a credit for every time a psychometric jedi fell in love with a nightsister, I would have two credits, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Hey, there! I’ve been a big fan of your art for years now, I wanted to say I love how expressive and squishy you always draw your characters as!!! They’re always so delightful to see! Random question, back in 2018 you were in a zine I couldn’t get at the time, the swrebelszine. If it’s possible at all, would you be willing to post your piece? If not, that’s totally understandable, it was a long time ago, sorry for bothering you and have an excellent day!!!!!!!

Speaking as a reenactor, if he survives the horde of sword-wielding reenactor women (And Knife, and Axe, and Spear). I will happily finish him off, the misogynistic git.
I can fight with a longsword, a spear, or an axe and would happily settle this with him publicly.
I can’t fight for shit but I have a rock if that helps

In other news, apparently Mitch McConnell is at death's fuckin door.
You know what to do, people.
He’s dead and they don’t want to admit it bc they’d have to have a special election

WASHINGTON (AP) — Staff for Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell said last week that the senator is “continuing his recovery” in a hospital while the Senate is out of session. But his office has released no details about the former Republican leader’s condition during his weekslong hospitalization or whether he will be at the Capitol when the Senate returns next week.
McConnell was admitted to the hospital on June 14, according to a statement from his office that only said he was “receiving excellent care.” A statement a week later said that he would not be voting that week. And on Thursday, a new statement said that he “continues to improve” and ”appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital.”
His office has not released any updates since then, and a spokeswoman did not return a request for comment on Monday.
pretty sure i just lost my editing gig to ai. hate and fucking war on planet earth.
like they've already made it very clear by a) ghosting me for months and b) getting my colleagues to train their stupid new ai. like i only know about this because one of my colleagues tipped me off. i imagine they're waiting to get it working before they formally let me go and fuck that. i am literally drafting my resignation lmao
guys. there has been an update. my spy colleague has informed me that my ex-boss is backtracking. the ai was supposed to speed things up because apparently i was unavailable too often but it turns out that another colleague has been lying about me telling him i was unavailable. i have email receipts proving this never happened.
this colleague also has beef with me because his documents were always garbage and i came back with a million corrections and called him out for mass copy-pasting. so he was just skipping the editing and saying i said i couldn't do it. and i lost my job because of it.
ex-boss backtracked and ended up asking me if i'd come back not as a freelance contractor but on an actual employment basis.
i declined.
shoutout to all the people reblogging the version of this before my rejection letter. and especially shoutout to those people saying they're happy for me and that there's justice on this earth. i regret to inform you that my version of justice means choosing violence.
This is a thing of beauty

This is what I love about photojournalism. It is just a history of moments where human beings have gone “I know I should really be hauling ass out of here but I have to get a picture of this”

it cant have been ten years already
Today I drove about 90 minutes into the mountains to one of those "history museums" that's really more or less, "70 years ago the county realised nobody wanted their grandparent's stuff anymore, but recognised it belonged to a rapidly disappearing way of life. So let's put it all someplace!"
This place had it all- 1970s department store mannequins in falling apart period clothing, piles and piles of farming implements in various stages of disrepair, plastic food displays, and a whole buncha ephemera that's actually from the 1920s even though the site purports to represent the 1850s-80s.
These things bother me because I'm sure NOW enough time has passed that when the Historical Society was busy collecting stuff, they knew who it had all belonged to and now those people are all long dead and we're losing the people who collected the stuff, too. So "museums" like that, that may actually have interesting and important shit, now just has... shit.
Now. Legitimate museums with curators and historians have that problem, too. I promise. But in the case of these rural, grassroots efforts... Standing in the middle of a "blacksmith shop" with a plastic man with a bad beard and his clothes rotting off him surrounded by carpentry tools and a giant bellows that's falling apart. It bothers me. I want better for rural communities than a Brass Armadillo that isn't for sale and exposed to the elements.
Recently got nerd sniped in a better-organized-but-still-just-ancestal-junk museum when I went to see Twelfth night. A largeish amount of stuff had labels which generally went "name - item" but in a very vague way, like "Eddings - Dress" or occasionally "Mary-Ann Smith-Young, first communion dress." They'd done okay with provenance but were stymied by era. I wandered over to look at the lace (my personal nemesis of fiber work) and immediately spotted a needle with two eyes. Having no idea what it was for, I googled it, while the specimen at the guestbook excitedly asked if I knew what it was and if I did lace (Hahahahaahahaha no). I explained that I do fiber sculpture, i.e. crochet and knitting combos from hell, usually because one of my cousins has spawned and they need a stuffed animal. And lo and behold - the needle was actually for leather-working. Now if somebody had even written down what part of the house they found that thing in... but nope. It had been dropped in the junk bin of history, aka the daughters of the Pioneers city hall one room museum.
Ye-up. Everyone involved meant well, they just had no solid idea how to... do any of it.
And in some ways that *is* a museum education in itself. Like, "Oh, that's why laminating historical paper documents is not a permanent solution. To anything." and, "Ouch. Possibly Granny White Lady's arrowhead collection needs additional context." And, "Not every museum needs a taxidermy diorama."
But sometimes these are not the lessons I wanted to learn.
Sometimes you have already learned them (via previous tiny museums, a summer in high school volunteering for a museum run by someone who knows what they're doing, completing 85% of an archaeology degree) and it's just a pity that there is NOTHING else to learn here, other than perhaps how much money goes into keeping this stuff slightly preserved.
