Robert and Aaron are talking about the revelation from Kev that Serena is a copper. Robert is still being defensive about her as he tells Aaron....

"We don't know she's up to anything. I know she's been asking asking around about John..."

Aaron says "Well, there you go, then." But they are cut off by Serena coming in.

She greets them, "All right, why are you looking at me like that?" Noticing she's on the receiving end of another Aaron glare & even Robert is tense.

Aaron is straight to the point as he says in an accusing tone....

"Maybe because it turns out you're an undercover police officer."

Serena is startled as she says "Sorry?"

Robert tells her, explaining "Kev recognised you. We know that you lied to us."

Serena says "OK, there's a difference between lying and not mentioning something irrelevant."

Aaron aggressively says "Irrelevant? You made it out like you wanted to come here for your family, so why are you really here?

Robert tries to settle Aaron down a bit by shouting "Aaron!" Robert then says to Serena "Look, I... We're not accusing you of anything...."

Aaron says "I am." Making his feelings perfectly clear.

Serena says "What is this, good cop, bad cop? Ever considered a career in the force?, you seem pretty adept at interrogating people, it's a skill." Aiming at Aaron, getting defensive about the ambush the second she walked through the door.

Aaron says "You'd know, wouldn't you?"

Robert tells Aaron "Can you just go? Cos you're not helping?"

Aaron says "Yeah. Maybe it's best you deal with this."

Aaron storms out full of pent up frustration leaving Robert to get the answers.

Serena sits down as Robert says to her "Serena, I need the truth."

Serena says "All right, I was in the police, but I left."

Robert asks her "Why?"

Serena says "Doesn't matter, personal reasons. Stuff I don't really feel like talking about. Point is, I'm not deliberately hiding anything. You believe me, right?"

Following the revelation from Kev that Serena is a police officer, Kev tells Robert he just wanted him to know "she's a grass". Robert is still reeling from the news as Aaron returns home from the shop.

Aaron as soon as he clocks Kev demands to know... what he's doing here?

Kev decides to play games he grabs Robert & paws at his face pretending something was going on between them saying... You said he (Aaron) wouldn't be home for ages. Giving Aaron a little show.

Robert pushes him off, telling him... It's not funny. Aaron wasn't fooled as was merely annoyed by Kev's presence in their home.

Kev explains to Aaron, "I've just come around about that Semolina bird"

Robert corrects him... "Serena"

A downbeat Robert explains to Aaron... "Kev reckons he's seen her before."

Kev chimes in "I have. She's plod."

Aaron exclaims "What!?"

Kev repeats & says "Plod. You know, slang for police officer."

Aaron replies "Yeah, I got that bit!"

Robert decides to get Kev to leave by thanking him "Well, we appreciate you telling us Kev. Don't we Aaron?!"

Aaron is glaring in bafflement at the bombshell as Kev takes the hint.

Kev says "Sweet, I'll get off, then, shall I?" There's no gratitude coming his way from Aaron despite Robert's efforts.

Robert says to Kev on the way out "And I'm sorry about Lewis and that Nicola won."

Kev turns to Aaron and says "Yeah, I bet you're not." Pointing at him. Aaron ignores him, he's got bigger things on his mind now.

Kev finally leaves as Robert steels himself for Aaron's response.

Robert is still reeling himself as Aaron says to him "I told you there was summat off about her, but you just wouldn't listen to me. Would ya, so now what?"

Robert says, "Well, if Kev's right, we nip it in the bud for Vic's sake."

Robert is on the phone to his nephew Harry, then finishes off the call by having a chat with Victoria. Things are much better between them now it seems. Robert says they can always come back for another visit if they doesn't come back here, he tells her to have a think.

As Serena enters the kitchen, she asks if Vic is ok? Robert says... yeah, Portugal seems to be agreeing with her. As Aaron comes in from outside followed by Vanessa. Aaron starts making a brew.

Serena suggests to Robert she bets he wishes she wasn't having such a good time, maybe then she might come home?

Before he can respond, Vanessa chimes in, she says... I hear that, without being nosey that is, like I'm glad Tracy is happy where she is, but it doesn't stop me missing her loads.

Serena asks Vanessa, Tracy's her sister right? And she was Nate's wife until...?

Vanessa tells Serena... She'll stop her there, she really doesn't need reminding.

Serena apologises saying she doesn't mean to open old wounds

Aaron chips in by adding... well some wounds never heal do they? So why don't we not bring it up in the first place? A little reprimand there.

Aaron is clearly not wanting all these frequent John mentions by Serena and shuts it down.

Serena snipes at Aaron by asking him... are you always this grumpy?

Robert tries to lighten the mood by quipping... Only when he's had a skin full with Mack.

Serena says... Ah, so it's the beer fear. Maybe you got up to something and you just can't remember.

Aaron is both annoyed and baffled.

Vanessa chimes in again & says... Well, while you are figuring that out, we should take a look at your new herd. (To Robert)

Robert says to Vanessa... Yeah, he'll be right with her & she goes outside to wait on him.

Serena gets a text & tells them she better go to, Charity's offered her some work. Aaron has his head in his hands. As Serena heads out.

Robert gets up & annoyed at Aaron snapping at his cousin Serena

Snaps at Aaron... What's wrong with you?

Aaron replies... Me? She's the one bringing up Tracy and Nate.

Robert defends her as he says... She's just making conversation. I thought you said you were going to give her a chance?

Aaron says defensively... Yeah, I did. Look how that turned out with John.

Aaron is annoyed & decides to head out as well without having his drink ☕ he was making.

With Aaron out of the way for a while, Serena and Robert talk, Aaron hasn't made a good first impression on her.

She says to Robert... So that's the famous Aaron Dingle, eh?

Robert replies... indeed! As he is looking over paperwork.

Robert says to her... Look, you know, he's not always like that.

Serena says.... Only if your surname is Sugden and you rock up out of nowhere, right?

Robert says... He's just... He's protective, that's all. And wary, I suppose, you know. Who can blame him, after everything he went through with John?

Robert adds... Once you get to know him, you'll see a different side to him... I promise.

Serena says... You seem very confident about that.

Robert replies... Well, yeah, cos I know him that's why. Underneath the attitude and the grumpiness, he's got a big heart. He'd do anything for the people he loves.

Serena is staring at Robert and chuckling at his soppy sentiments.

Robert asks... What?!

Serena says... That's what we're all looking for, right? Someone to make us feel like that.

Robert says... And drive you mad most of the time.

Serena adds... Guess that's part of the attraction. And why you love him so much.

Robert says... I do.

Serena asks... Look me being here isn't gonna be a problem for you two, is it?

Robert tells her... No, of course not.

Serena says... Cos that's the last thing I'd want. Like I said, I can stay somewhere else.

Robert says... Honestly, he'll be fine.

Robert is struck unconscious by a runaway farm trailer. Aaron is deeply suspicious when Serena, who happened to be at the scene, calls him about the accident.

Serena helps Robert. But Aaron is suspicious over why she was at the scene. Aaron fears history could be repeating itself. Is Serena the new John?

Aaron is trying to enjoy a cuppa when Serena knocks asking him if it's safe to re-enter?

She tells him... I've been thinking, maybe I should find somewhere else to stay. I don't want to hang around if I'm not welcome.

Aaron awkwardly tells her, while not making eye contact... It's fine. Robert wants you here.

Serena points out.... it's not only up to him, though, is it?

Aaron says... Well, I suppose I'll just have to get used to the idea.

Serena sits down beside Aaron & says... listen... I get it. All the stuff with John, and then a new Sudgen rolls up. I don't blame you for being suspicious, but I'm not him.

Aaron says... No, you're definitely not him.

Serena says... But I could just be a new and different flavour of "psycho Sugden", right? Well, I'm not.

Aaron says... And would you be sitting here telling me if you were?

Serena replies... Fair play.

Aaron says... John was very good at hiding it in the first place and an' all.

Serena says to Aaron... I suppose it's worse for you. You were the only one that let him in.

Aaron turns away and says... Right. Thanks for that.

Serena says to him... You really loved him, didn't you?

Aaron shakes his head dismayed by the conversation as she says...

...You shouldn't blame yourself.

Aaron says... Do you charge for these therapy sessions?

Serena replies... Ah, first one's free. Family discount.

Aaron says... We're not family.

Serena replies... Full price it is, then. You're not the first person to fall for someone under false pretences.

As Robert enters the room & joins them.

Aaron asks Serena... What, you got form, have you?

Serena replies... Let's just say, I've had a few dodgy relationships.... Not John levels of crazy, though. She clarifies.

Robert chimes in... There's not many of them knocking about.

Serena says to Robert... That ex of yours (Kev) could give you a run for his money.

Robert says... Kev's just a bit... different.

Aaron says... Yeah, he's definitely that.

Serena says to Aaron... It's easy for you. You're part of the biggest family in the village. Robert's hardly got anyone. Of course he's gonna wanna make the most of having someone new around. Just give me a chance. That's all I'm asking.

Aaron fresh from his awkward first meeting with Serena asks Robert why he didn't tell him Serena knew John?

Robert says... he didn't think it was important!

Aaron replies....her being all pally with 'that psycho' didn't seem important to you?! Especially when you and Vic didn't know he existed until he rocked up here.

Robert defends Serena telling Aaron.... She wasn't "all pally" with him. She met him a couple of times.

Aaron adds... And now she's here, living in our house.

Robert insists... She just wants to get to know her family.

Aaron questions... Does that not sound familiar to you?

Aaron then asks... Have you got anymore bombshells you want to drop!

Robert does as it happens!

Robert says to Aaron... Well, actually, yeah there is one. And don't get angry, all right?

Robert says... Kev's back!

Robert explains... Yeah, but it's all right, he's not interested in me. He even said he'd give me a divorce. I've heard he's actually back because he's Lewis' dad.

Aaron exclaims... What?!

Robert says... Yeah, I know. Anyway, you don't need to worry about Kev, you don't need to worry about Serena. Just give her a chance all right? That's all I'm asking you.

Robert talking to Serena, comments to her "a Dingle-Sudgen Christening completed, I suppose that's you inducted into the village then."

Robert asks "How'd it go?" As he hadn't attended himself,

Serena replies "It was nice to see Sarah looking so happy. She really is lovely isn't she?"

Robert says "Yeah, that's the Sudgen half."

Serena adds "even ended up from behind the bar. Who knew people watching could be so fun?"

Robert says "Yeah, the novelty will wear off, trust me."

Serena comments "Your in-laws were certainly an interesting bunch."

Robert quips, "That's one word for them."

Serena asks him "What word would you use?"

Robert says "well, er.." but he's cut off by Aaron returning home from his overnight scrap run.

Robert says "There he is... Speaking of Dingle's, the wonderer returns."

Aaron walks in & gets his first look at Serena.

Robert welcomes Aaron home & introduces Aaron & Serena to each other.

Serena tells Aaron "it's nice to meet you."

Aaron replies "Likewise."

Serena asks tentatively "Hope you don't mind a temporary house guest?"

Aaron replies "No, not at all. As long as you help clean up after him (Robert)."

Robert quips "hey!" At the jibe.

Serena says "He's been fairly tidy so far."

Aaron says "Well that won't last."

Serena says "And I'm nothing like John, in case you were worried."

Aaron asks "You knew John?"

Serena replies "Not really."

Aaron asks "What's that supposed to mean?"

Serena replies "it means not really..... I saw him at the odd family do that's all"

Robert recognising things are getting tense at the mention of John crosses the room & says "Aaron..." To settle him.

Aaron asks Serena "And you knew about everything he did here?"

Serena replies "I heard bits, yeah."

Robert asks Serena to "Maybe give us a minute?" Things are getting more awkward & tense by the moment.

She replies "Course. I said I'd help Matty anyway."

Serena heads out by stops & says to Aaron "Sorry if I said the wrong thing."

Robert comes round very quickly and sees it's Sam who is standing over him, he calls his name before his vision goes blurry and he passes out again.

When he comes around Robert finds himself tied to a chair 🪑 being held captive with an angry Cain.

Cain says to him "You woke up fast!"

Then "You should've hit him harder Sammy"

Robert shakes his head trying to wake himself up & panics realising he's in some serious trouble.

Cain mocks "I hope you don't mind us letting ourselves in?!"

He then says "Not too keen on what you've done with this place, though."

Robert says "I'm sorry"

Cain gets in his face to ask "For?"

A desperate & panicked Robert replies "You know what for. Please I-I can explain."

Cain tells him menacingly "I wouldn't bother if I were you. I'm mad enough as it is."

Sam questions "What are we doing then... If you don't want answers?

Robert begs "Please"

Cain tells him "I don't want your manners. I don't want your apologies. I'm here for one thing and one thing only.

Cain shows Robert a hammer and drops it in front of him.

Robert hears a banging noise he shouts assuming it's Aaron even though he thought he would still be in Leeds on his garage call out. He calls out Matty even though it's his day off.

Robert arms himself with a pitchfork to protect himself.
