It just shows how people think they suddenly have the right to know… well, everything, to do with someone simply because they are famous. No, you don’t have the right. 

You don’t have the right to know about the most intimate aspect of someones life; of ALL things. Jesus.

On another note:

We all know women - of all races - were swooning over Michael and that he was a sex symbol. But what I adore about him is how he made a point not to talk about his sex life/relationships etc in interviews. 

Women and our bodies have always been used by men to display male power. But, Michael refused to do this - to use us. Therefore crossing gender boundaries as well as racial ones. Like, no, I don’t need to assert my masculinity to be successful. I don’t need to be like “I fucked 20 bitches last week. I’m so cool and awesome. Buy my album.”

e.g Dirty Diana is about a prostitute. It could have been really exploitative and sexist, but it isn’t. It’s actually written from her perspective as well as his. And The Way You Make Me Feel is, personally, one of the most feminist videos I have ever seen as it directly critiques the way men use women to prove themselves to other men.

Also, in In The Closet, the man is going on and on about how attractive the woman is to him, meanwhile she’s the one expressing all the wisdom about sex and relationships. Which is something men never let women do in the past. They never gave women their own sexual voice. Just made out that they were objects that lie there while you “fuck” them. 

As a women who has self respect, and cares for being treated as an equal human being and not as a sexual object - that in itself is enough to make me love him.

So, MJ didn’t just cross racial boundaries in his life, challenging White authority - he crossed gender boundaries too, challenging patriarchal authority.

Most people don’t realise how profound and important that is. It was truly transgressive.
