Who is running this blog? Me, lennardd! (she/her) I am the creator of DanganRonpa 69 and DanganRonpa 96! However, DR96 is a collaborate project between me and Kitsune Rexx! (he/she/they)

DISCLAIMER: Spoilers for the fics DR69 and DR96 (up until the currently posted chapter) will be discussed here! So, if you've somehow come here without catching up, I'd highly avoid checking out recent posts on here!!

So, what will be posted here? Mainly the sane ramblings of a very normal person who is obsessed with characters a very normal amount. Other than that: as many progress updates on the fic I can cram, DR96 related doodles/art, and for you, an opportunity to ask questions and submit posts!

You are allowed to ask about anything, but spoiler-related questions for future aspects of the fic can't be answered for, well, spoiler reasons.

I think there are a few factors as to why DR69 got as big as it did. These are just my thoughts, I'm not an all-knowing algorithm hacking god (I can only wish...)

Firstly, I posted DR69 back during 2020, and we all know what went down during that time. The covid-era pushed people all across different internet spaces, which I suppose made AO3 a more popular place to visit.

At the time, not many crossover fangans existed. I am not the first to create one, and there were a few before mine (in fact I was inspired by someone else's work). But I think I might've been the first to use images and videos, specifically ones that were self-drawn, so that concept might have gotten a few eyes.

Another factor I know of is that some people started posting edits onto youtube which got a lot outside traffic towards the fic (one even has half a million views. phew).

Of course the last one is simply that a lot of people liked it. I left this one until last because this feels very ego-strokey coming from me lol. But that's probably a point you'd hear anyone else say if asked.

Now I understand how you feel, not being able to get a lot of recognition for the work you put into your own story. Hell I'd bet you'd be hard pressed to believe DR69 only had 5 hits at some point, but I remember it very vividly. We all start somewhere. That's just how it works. AO3 doesn't have an algorithm like social medias do. You can't "blow-up" overnight. It's not like tikok. You have to find the works that you want to read. You might have a bigger chance having tagged more fandoms, which is a start.

My advice? Don't give up. Keep writing for you. And if you get an audience? Hey that's a great perk! But it shouldn't be your sole motivation. You're writing a fanfiction, not an article. It's not your job to reel people in. That should happen naturally. And that's honestly how you curate the best communities, too.

While I still agree with some of the points made there, I think my biggest reason against doing it is because of the hassle. DR96 is such a huge story with so many assets (art/video) that I just don't see much payoff in cross-posting it to places like Wattpad. That and I don't really use Wattpad lol

Of course I do understand that AO3, for whatever insane reason, may be blocked on certain networks, making it harder for some people to access the story. Like I suggested in the other post, using youtube readings for DR69 is an option, but not really for DR96 since I don't think anyone has read it (and I get why it's so fucking long lol)

I think the best way to describe what's going on behind the scenes right now is 'slowly but surely'. As in, I'm working on the art practically every day. But since there is such a high amount, it's going to still take. a lot of time

At the rate I'm working, I feel as if I'll only need a few months to get it all done. I'm hoping to get the final chapter out around August, if not sooner.

One question I have is if the character art used for the silhuettes in the “characters left” screen at the end of trials is available anywhere in full? They look really pretty but it’s a little hard to tell what they’re all doing in the little silhuettes.

Thankfully you will be able to see Walter's FTEs after the final chapter is posted! His and the others' were all written in advance of the plot (back in... late 2021 I believe woah) and I'd honestly love to share what never got to be seen in the fic

(I'm still debating whether to post them all as an added chapter on DR96 itself or make an entirely separate fic so I can divide each character into their own chapter... I'll probably leave that to a vote lol)

As for his interactions with Hayasaka, I think it'd depend on if Walter would become an ally or a foe. Either way, I feel Walter would view Hayasaka as a mostly competent individual (compared to most of the others), but might have a tendency to look down upon his more cowardly flaws (more-so as a foe, perhaps he would even use them to his advantage).

well considering I haven't posted anything since the last update...

not to say nothing has been done! it's just very hard to put into terms without essentially spoiling what's going on behind the scenes. I want to stress that this chapter will have the most art in a single chapter, much more than any previous. This is mainly because as it's the last chapter I just wanna go all out--however this obviously comes with the drawback of having a much bigger workload (heheh...)

this is what things sort of look like right now in visual terms. some CGs are more involved than others so it's hard to define a definite scale

As someone who is genuinely as obsessed with this game day one as I’m sure the rest of you are, this is absolutely hilarious. I’m so glad my fic has caused this to happen

ok so it turns out that if you decide to do all the writing before the art then you really don't have anything to show in terms of updates

like I've done 2 cgs and in the middle of the next one. granted these were pretty full-on drawings with multiple characters but still. so unless you guys don't mind a bi-weekly post that says "yeah I've done a cg." then I'm not sure what else to post other than shitposts or memes for the time being.

I'm gonna change these posts to every two weeks (unless I have something significant I want to share sooner) as I feel sharing progress on art isn't going to be very distinctive. There's quite a lot more to do this time around as I really wanna be ambitious for the final chapter.

Most of my time this week has been spent making the video I posted before this, but I have sketched out the first CG--it's a pretty involved one phewie

While me and Rexx work on the art, I will also be working on another fic: the one mentioned in this post here. Yes from almost 2 years ago lol
