KhΓ’nd Lavrid, the Cannibal - Star Wars OC Masterdump
KhΓ’nd (pronounced Kh-AO-nd) was one of the slaves to the Zygerrian Slave Trade before it became 100% known to the republic. He was born there, withstood heavy labor and abuse β both physical and sexual β from those who owned him. He endured it for seventeen years, then one day he was fed up with the abuse and killed his master with the only weapon he had at that moment: his teeth. This event planted the cannibalistic rumors around him, most of them true, as it gave his developing brain the craving for such actions. He fled the scene out of horror and desperation to escape, and once out of city bounds, he managed to hop onto an automated cargo ship already preparing to leave. He succeeded in getting on before the doors closed, but lost his leg in the mechanism from being a hair too late.
The ship was lost in dead space after he attempted to override the automated course. The cold of space stemmed the blood flow from his amputated leg, put him into comatose, and was left to later be found by pirates. They found KhΓ’nd, still alive, and transferred him to their ship and planet where they would quickly treat him. KhΓ’nd spent a couple years on Florrum, learning how to survive for himself in the galaxy as a pirate and how to adjust to a new leg. He was taught by pirates and bounty hunters alike on how to fend for himself.
Once he was capable of himself, he and a small group of pirates decided to go scavenging on various junk planets. One of those planets and the last one they visited was Lotho Minor. He and a close friend, Iryani, went off the scavenge apart from the group and ended up falling into one of the cave systems running underground. There, Iryani met a quick end by hitting her head on the way down, and KhΓ’nd was left in the dark. Whilst trying to find a way out, he was attacked by - at the time β spider Maul, who'd been on Lotho Minor for a couple years by that point. KhΓ’nd slipped away, but was left with a scar stemming from his cheek to headtail via one of the mechanical legs, and guilt over leaving Iryani's corpse in the tunnels.
Piracy and raiding became dull for him. The longer he lived a semi-normal life, the more he desired a name for himself. He wanted revenge against the Zygerrians, and clarity for his brethren who died there and those who still suffered. He left his crew and became a bounty hunter, and through a short amount of time, he quickly got waht he wished for through his unorthodox tactics. He was new to the game, yet still gained enough reputation and money to start targeting the Zygerrian Slave Empire whenever he could. He became a terrorist of Zygerria and deliverer to the remaining slaves.
One attack on the Zygerrian market was successful, but costly β also happened around the same time Anakin, Ahsoka, and Obi-wan were sent to Zygerria during that one arc. KhΓ’nd desperately needed money after that plan, so he went back to bounty hunting again. He saw a hefty bounty for Savage Opress: one million credits. He figured it was no different nor difficult than his past jobs. (Wrong!) This circles back to when KhΓ’nd met Maul on Lotho Minor; KhΓ’nd is technically a direct clue to Maul in Savage's mission to find him, so the talisman lets Savage know this as KhΓ’nd is trying to subdue him. KhΓ’nd bites Savage during the fight out of defense to get out of a chokehold, but consumed the night sister ichor in his bloodstream, and left him suffocating on it and with flashes of memories not his own. Savage doesn't kill KhΓ’nd solely because of the talisman leading him to KhΓ’nd, and instead demands information. They end up making a reluctant truce.
The two end up travelling together under KhΓ’nd's extensive knowledge of the galaxy/vast connections. Long story short: they fight, they bond, they become this notorious duo in the systems that one: the Republic worries about because of both their criminal records, and two: Dooku/Ventress worry about because they have no idea why Savage would team up with KhΓ’nd or what they're working toward. Partners in Crime. In an unlikely alliance, they learn more about themselves from one another and how to cope with how they were wronged.
Eventually, after more hazardous and unsuccessful leads than good ones, KhΓ’nd and Savage locate Maul via an old comm signal they deciphered. KhΓ’nd recognizes the voice in it to be Maul's (this is canon, it's from Return to Vader's Castle comic series) and is highly against going back there, says that's certainly not Savage's brother anymore. They go anyway, but KhΓ’nd refuses to help Savage any further as their truce technically ended up on locating Maul. Once found, they go back to Dathomir. KhΓ’nd knows Talzin's animosity toward him, so he stays on the ship. Savage was meant to do this on his own, stay loyal to Talzin, and KhΓ’nd squandered that. Whilst Maul is being revived, KhΓ’nd calls up a friend nearby. Maul recognizes KhΓ’nd, he remembers that encounter on Lotho Minor so many years back, and niether of them like it. KhΓ’nd and Savage part ways by then, and out of selflessness for once, KhΓ’nd lended Savage his ship and left with the friend he called up.
During the events of Sundari and Death Watch, KhΓ’nd was one of the hunters who the Hutt Cartel hired for protection. There, KhΓ’nd and Savage reunited, and although "bounty hunters have no allegienace", KhΓ’nd swore his loyalty out of the preface of being an old friend. For a brief time, KhΓ’nd served under the collective as their hunter, then later Maul himself. KhΓ’nd wasn't on world during The Lawless episode, he was off on a job. But the news of Savage's death came to him right as Savage died; the ichor, still lingering in KhΓ’nd's mind, gave him the first vision of many to come. He saw Savage in his mind die, and was left to grieve.
Now, KhΓ’nd is back to his vengeful, spiteful self. All he really knows now is what Maul has built, and he desires clarity in Savage's death. He thinks that by helping Maul during the events of Shadow Lord, by helping him extract revenge on whose who betrayed and abandoned him, he in turn will put Savage's soul to rest. He's deep in grief, angry, and unintentionally abandons all that he learned to accept about himself from Savage. He carries his lightsaber with him. And depending on how the shows turns out in season two, KhΓ’nd will likely lose his life in his search for revenge.
He's very dear to me if you couldn't tell
