First of all, who are you to categorize relevant & non relevant film festivals? Do you think is that easy to get in at any film festival when there are thousands of films being released every year? Every one of them has critics who are there because they know the craft & if your film is chosen even just by one of them is a big success. 

Secondly, Cannes does accept big studio films and i will give you as an example one in which Leonardo DiCaprio was involved, just like he is in Robin Hood. The Great Gatsby, produced by Warner Bros which opened the Cannes Film Festival of 2013..maybe you don’t consider Warner Bros a big and relevant film studio? 

And finally, the promotion of the movie will cost 100 million dollars & they have already started promoting it with posters, clips & sculptures. You know where they started doing so? At the Cannes film festival this year. Will they get in? Depends on the competition & how good other films will be. But whatever the outcome they obviously are interested in getting the film there the following year & believe their big studio project has chances to do so otherwise why waste money like that?
