“We were able to talk about framing up this prominent Black comic book family and my perspective as a Black man if I’d been watching this thing. Any questions, thoughts, or concerns that I may have had about framing or where we may be going or how it may be perceived, Chris and Zack met those things with open arms and an open mind. What was really important for me and was really important for Chris, Zack, and I think everybody was involved in, the original vision for the piece was that these people react as real people would. Right? If you go through this kind of trauma, you’re not going to have somebody 10 minutes later going, ‘you know, this ain’t so bad.’ Yeah, that’s just not what real people would do. There’s a whole nother way to live. Another way to be. You have to get back in touch with that. You have to make peace with the world. So, Cyborg is not a happy camper in Zack’s Justice League. But he’s figuring out how to get some semblance of normalcy back for himself. How to reconnect with people. And it’s a powerful thing. So, fans should prepare for a Cyborg that Black, traumatized, and ready to insert all of that pain into fighting to save the planet”
