Ben wants to be heard. We hear him and listen to him every day. He may believe tonight we’ve shot down his ideas, but I’m not drowning each one. I’m challenging them, and he has every right to stand by his convictions. However outlandish and fantastical they may be.

Our love is rare. It’s one I can’t abandon, even if I tried. When she screams, an identical one rips through me. When she cries, my world rains with grief. When she loves, I truly, truly fly. (x) 

I decided that I’d do whatever it takes to be the person I want to be and not what everyone else wants me to be, even if it means hurting some people I love along the way.

I think back to days upon days with him. And I begin, “If someone ever asks how long we’ve spent together, I’d say for as long as my mind stretches back. I can’t tell you the day that I fell in love with you because there wasn’t a single day that I didn’t.” My voice shakes with more joy than I’ve ever known. “You have the purest parts of my heart, and I’m certain that in every alternate universe, I’m always, always in love with you.”

I’m not a natural born leader. I don’t want to be one, but sometimes it feels like that’s my only path to be someone or something to the people I love. Then maybe they’d need me like they need you.

“Why is it that the people you come to love are the ones that seem to hurt you the most?”

Lily is quiet for a moment before she says, “I’m tougher than you think. You just need to believe in me. You know, like a fairy.”

“You think you know Charlie Keating Cobalt, you have no fucking clue.”

“I’ve never shied away from who I am, even when people asked me to be softer, quieter or warmer. I’ve proudly remained me.”

People hope to touch the sky. I dream of kissing it.

“I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart.” My lips pull higher, into a livelier smile. “I am, I am, I am.”
