hearing the laugh of his friend beside him caused johnny to subtly kick him in the shin, keeping the smile on his face as he nodded in thanks to those who offered sympathy, and winks to the girls who ran their fingers across the bruising around his eye and said ‘you poor, poor thing.’ and once the crowd dispersed he turned to daeho, giving him a playful punch on the shoulder. “watch it, asshole, you almost blew my cover.” he said with a grin, taking another sip from his drink. “who’s acting? i’m simply just telling my truth, is all. the people deserve it, you know?” he said, though the devilish grin that spread across his lips obviously showed that even he found humor in his sarcastic sentiment.

               even  after  accepting  the  invitation  ,  hana  wondered  if  she  could  come  up  with  an  excuse  to  get  out  of  it  .  it  wasn’t  that  she  didn’t  want  to  catch  up  with  him  ,  but  more  about  being  alone  with  him  after  all  this  time  .  both  the  saint  laurent  event  and  christmas  ball  were  public  ,  and  she  can  only  hope  that  sharing  a  dance  at  the  christmas  ball  was  enough  to  push  them  over  that  hump  of  awkwardness  .  her  team  wasn’t  too  happy  about  the  innocent  dance—  in  their  eyes  ,  it  wasn’t  a  good  thing  to  be  spotted  with  an  ex  (  an  ex  fiancé  made  it  a  million  times  worse  )  .  hana  feels  her  face  warm  when  daeho  greets  her  ,  a  soft  smile  spreading  on  her  features  as  she  steps  inside  .  ‘  i  was  passing  by  and  couldn’t  help  myself  .  ’  she  toes  off  her  shoes  and  pushes  them  aside  with  her  foot  .  ‘  besides  ,  we  used  to  love  this  place  .  ’

“i can’t believe only one person got punched in the face at the christmas ball.” bianca said, letting out a dramatic sigh as she laid her head in the lap of the person next to her, looking up at them with a pout. “no carnage, no destruction, just a little bitch boy fight. was there even blood?” she said, looking at her phone as she examined the video she had taken before tossing her phone carelessly to the floor. ‘i’m bored!” she whined. “and that should scare you.”

 as per usual, the kennedy’s had spun johnny’s little fight with ford in his favor. there were various edited clips out on the internet, some that showed the true fight, but most that kathy paid the tabloids to release that showed a clipped version that made it look like ford threw the first punch. and because of that, no one would ever know the truth, the world would remain torn, talking about it and debating it until the next scandal came around the corner and his name remained exactly where he liked it - in people’s mouths. with a cocky grin, showing off the battle scars on his eyes, he sauntered into voyeur, nodding towards the cameras and laughing as they all shouted questions at him before he finally made it inside as he moved towards the bar where a group of his friends were. “gotta keep going, you know? so what i was assaulted in my own home defending my ex-girlfriend’s honor? i’m not going to let one little incident define me.” he said, placing a hand over his chest as the group nodded along in sympathy with him.

THESE  THINGS  ALWAYS  MADE  HER  NERVOUS  —-  never  liked  talking  about  herself  ,  always  about  other  things  aviva  found  more  interesting.  unlike  the  rest  of  hollywood  ,  she  finds  it  embarrassing.  makes  her  face  all  red  hot  in  the  way  that’s  so  uncomfortable.  but  here  she  is  ,  reeling  from  all  the  red  carpet  questions.  thanks  to  her  manager  ,  the  hype  around  her  first  single  gaining  slowly  and  now  she  has  to  do  all  sorts  of  actual  industry  things  ,  instead  of  her  doing  it  from  the  safety  of  her  couch.  standing  in  front  of  the  open  bar  ,  aviva  takes  a  sip  of  her  drink  and  nods  to  the  person  next  to  her.  “you  see  those  two?”  another  nod  of  her  head  in  front  of  them  –  a  couple  ,  she’d  seen  them  before  on  magazines.  heavy  on  the  pda  and  honestly  ,  it’s  kind  of  embarrassing.  “how  long  do  you  think  it’ll  take  of  the  excessive  tongue  before  they  get  kicked  out?  it’s  been  a  solid  ten  minutes  so  far.”

            to  say  hana  was  nervous  was  a  massive  understatement  .  her  encounter  with  daeho  was  drastically  less  awkward  than  when  they  saw  each  other  at  the  saint  laurent  event  ,  and  perhaps  that’s  why  she  found  herself  sitting  in  the  back  seat  of  the  uber  ,  parked  outside  of  his  house  .  hana  accepted  his  invitation  to  come  over  without  hesitation  ,  but  now  that  was  she  was  there  ,  her  heart  was  settled  in  her  throat  .  after  a  few  moments  of  debating  on  running  for  the  hills  ,  hana  finally  gets  out  and  makes  her  way  to  the  front  door  .  she  rings  the  doorbell  and  pats  down  her  hair  ,  suddenly  self  conscious  and  wondering  if  she’s  overdressed  (  she’s  not  ,  she’s  wearing  jeans  for  christ’s  sake  )  .  hana  digs  her  teeth  down  into  her  lower  lip  ,  and  takes  a  couple  of  steps  back  when  the  door  swings  open  .  ‘  hi  ,  ’  she  speaks  with  a  soft  smile  and  raises  the  bags  in  her  hands  .  ‘  i  brought  food  .  ’

                                with a rather loud  (  &  very dramatic  )  sigh that left her plump petals as she entered one of her closest friends homes , alana made her way over straight to the room he resided in  &  flopped down on the lounge chair , unbothered by the coat she was still wearing or the designer  bucket hat  that hid half of her face . at this point , the whole world knew two men fought over her at the kennedy gala ,  &  for that reason alone alana was given strict instructions by her  father’s pr team  to keep her head down  (  &  if you knew alana that was a struggle for someone demanding attention all the time  )  which explained her boredom .  ❝  i have 4 security guards following me because my dad  &  dearest brother don’t believe me when i say i’m not going to see johnny but you , ❝  she sighed again ,   ❝  i feel caged , dae !  imprisoned , locked up like a criminal !  you gotta’ help meeee ,  ❝   & then she whined .  

               hana  loved  her  job—  she  really  did  ,  but  it  was  moments  like  this  where  she  wished  she  could  launch  herself  off  a  tall  building  .  no  ,  she  and  daeho  didn’t  end  on  bad  terms  ,  but  it’s  been  a  long  while  since  they’d  seen  each  other  .  hana  expected  a  lot  of  things  to  happen  on  this  night  .  maybe  she’d  talk  about  the  perfume  that  was  on  display  ,  or  she  would  try  on  one  of  the  jackets  she  saw  somewhere  in  the  space  ,  but  she  did  not  expect  to  run  into  daeho  .  she  doesn’t  know  why  she  expected  for  him  to  not  hear  her  ,  but  when  he  speaks  to  her  she  swears  she  feels  her  chest  constrict  .  ‘  hi  ,  daeho  …  yeah  .  it’s  been  a  really  long  time  …  ’  she  attempts  to  not  come  off  as  a  robot  ,  but  something  is  telling  her  that  she’s  failing  miserably  .  she  tucks  her  hair  behind  her  ear  ,  clearing  her  throat  quietly  .  ‘  um  …  how  have  you  been  ?  ’

*  ◟  ― 𝐄𝐀𝐓 , 𝐒𝐋𝐄𝐄𝐏 , 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐌𝐎𝐎𝐙𝐄 , 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐓. it's eleven p.m. on a saturday night , and jia's already exhausted. the night has been full of handshaking, laughing at unfunny jokes , and trying to ignore the creepy stares of older men she passes by without much avail. it's all the same thing - the same atmosphere , the same people every night. it's not like jia can't handle it - in fact it'd be stranger to her if she didn't have to find a way to navigate this life she had been raised into for as long as she can remember. so she smiles , networks , and smiles some more , between orchestrating on-brand pictures of the event to post later for her instagram feed. but the event's started to get just a little too boring to be fun , so jia decides to get a little too drunk to bite her tongue. so when her eyes land over the figure in front of her , jia steps forward with purposeful steps , taking their shoulder in her manicured fingertips. " would you allow me to be completely honest with you ? " the woman asks , brow upturned as she only awaits a few seconds for responses before continuing. in her drunken glee , she doesn't even care who it is , the truth was just bubbling too deep in her core to ignore. " i think . . . this party sucks , " she confesses , eyes growing wide with mischief dramatically as if she confessed something entirely scandalous. " and you wanna know the shittiest part ? " not allowing her voice to reach above a whisper , she grabs hold of their shoulder , leaning forward so she can speak in their ear. " i hate everyone here. fuck all the guests and their stupid fucking parties , you know ? " oh boy , how she'll regret this tomorrow. " every last one. "

being truthful, daeho wasn’t supposed to attend that party ― he was supposed to be back at his place enjoying a hearty korean barbecue with his friends and maybe even hitting a bar afterwards but his father had a late change of plans and couldn’t attend the party so his mother needed a last minute plus one and who better than her own son to do it ?? it didn’t help his case at all that daeho was unable to tell his mother no. as expected the man was having zero fun throughout the event so was forced to bring out his charming smile and hold uninteresting conversations with whoever decided to walk up to him.
