[ MR. DAVIES ] : Maybe we could…relive it? [ MR. DAVIES ] : Something even better than your flowers.

[ julia wicker - sms ] better than my flowers? oh, making me up my ante, I see. flowers will be hard to beat, but I think I might have something in mind.

Charity causes his brows to lift, a curious glance paired with them. “Right…” he comments, privately wondering if it’s the exact same event. Though Daxton doesn’t get to ask as Jack suddenly moves into his eye line, tugging upon the front of the jacket.

    “Everything all right here? Nothing too tight?” the tailor interjects. Upon Dax’s answer of it being fine, Jack moves behind him, lightly pinching the shoulder seams to insure a proper fit there as well.

    “Is it the gala benefiting Mount Sinai?” he finally asks, addressing the other man waiting to be fitted again. “The one Saturday?”

own curiosity piqued, ben looks back at the other man, a renewed smile on his features as he nods, a twinkle in his eye. “that’s the one. you’d think with everything else there is, attire would be the last thing they would be picky about, but...” gestures to their environment around them, “-- here we are.”

Another deep breath goes in, and a steady exhale comes out. It’s a process he repeats a couple times to push back a deluge of tears. He wipes one side of his face with the back of his knuckles, skin still damp to the touch. But he looks up when David squeezes his shoulder.

“That is…” Overwhelming? No, that’s not the world he wants to use. It carries too many negative connotations, but this is honestly and truly one of the most heartfelt gestures he’s been lucky to receive.

“You know that goes both ways, right?” A hand clasps the other man’s forearm before he can draw away, and Dax uses the touch to drive his next point home. “I mean it.”

a small little mom and pop coffee shop in georgia. what a strange place for a reunion. but perhaps, from whatever place in the world it could have been, georgia was where it should have been all along. 

          “aw, hell. i know, dax, I know.” for a man who’s very livelihood depended on speaking, sometimes, david had a hell of a time trying to put words together.  silence wanders in between them, but it’s not uncomfortable. in fact, that shared silence was something to be treasured. when so much in the world around them was filled with so much chaos and simple noise - a silence shared by two men with incomparably different presents but with a shared past was more than welcomed.
