We just don’t have a great shot of this painting. Our current scan is museum approved and I just don’t have something high resolution enough to swap it, but this auction snap is pretty intriguing, so I waned to show it anyway. It’s a little blurry and polarized but it does suggest some of our museum shots of the brown Rothkos may be on the under-lit and desaturated side. This casual shot shows a richness and warmth in the colors that I find very appealing and I suspect it’s not too far off, but then our recent revelations about museums and warm/cool lighting may be telling us that you can have two versions that are actually both equally corrector as far as a scan goes.
