Look it's not that I disagree with the whole 'gender is a social construct' thing, because per sociology it's an actual concept. I just don't think my issue is merely social.
A friend I have, long-time, recently asked me about my experiences and 'how I knew'. I shared that when I was younger I used to try to mutilate myself, couldn't recognise myself so I had panic attacks, and was in constant distress, etc.
They went like 'oh, what? Really?'
And I was just appalled because... shouldn't such experiences be expected out of a trans person? Maybe in varying degrees of severity but...
Anyway, they asked because they were wondering whether they were genderfluid.
It's such things that make me feel disconnect.
Online spaces, for example. Especially now during pride month. I'm mutuals with some people who sees themselves as trans and put the flag in their profile picture. But the way they share their experiences, there are no hints of struggle? If that makes sense.
When conversations arise about this, people go 'who cares'. And really, sure, on a larger scale when there's wars going on and bigger issues to face, who cares whether XXX identifies as a trans woman/ man but shows no distress and dresses in clothes traditionally aligned to their sex. I know I don't.
But on a personal level, it's genuinely isolating. No one understands the depth I am affected and think it's a label I stick on for fun because I 'feel like a man'. The anxiety I feel constantly, how my brain torments me...
And I just wish I was understood more, for my experiences to be taken seriously in a medical way.
Americans are so privileged it pisses me off. When the White House announced how it's going to crack down on radical trans groups, trans people in America are dropping to their knees moaning and groaning how being trans in the US is the worst. They compare it to Nazi fucking Germany and the extermination of Jews.
How disgustingly insensitive.
Do you have any idea how privileged you are to even BE trans? To EXPRESS yourself openly? Do you have any fucking idea how privileged you are to be able to walk in somewhere and acquire hormones in a few weeks? To have clinics and hospitals even PROVIDE healthcare? To even be able to DIY safely with lots of resources and options?
When our government rolled out the new restrictions, no one talked about it. One post on Reddit, two Instagram videos and THATS IT. Clinics just stopped providing trans healthcare and no one is talking about it. You're not allowed to protest because that's illegal. And you, privileged Americans, are whining over your 'loss of rights' in America? When the White House and Trump are notorious for spouting bullshit they never follow?
Don't make me fucking sick, I swear.
You are bitching over a potential future that you're not even experiencing that is MY REALITY.
Have you thought about going DIY? It seems like the best option for situations, where the country you live in makes hrt inaccessible.
Yep, of course, many times. But T is much harder to get than E, and there's a recent crackdown of steroids as well. All my channels have disappeared. And as mentioned in my recent post, hormone level testing is banned, making DIY more unsafe.
I'm also pretty broke so I can't afford all that, but thanks for looking out for me.
Im still alive everyone. But with bad news. My government is cracking down on gender dysphoria treatment, essentially making it near impossible to get it.
In the official document, they reference non legitimate organisations, such as right wing groups that support pro abortion, conversation therapy and more, as well as fabricated data to reinforce their much stricter rules.
They even mixed up GID with GD
This is why research and medicalisation of transsexualism is so important. Without it, you'll get a government who won't take the issue seriously.
By the way, the government has banned the testing of estrogen and testosterone levels. Even private clinics are no longer allowed to do it, making HRT more unsafe.
Entirely heartbreaking.

Pretty interesting read that came up as an ad on my Twitter page, i think.
Loud incorrect buzzer
Some might have since they canât control their body shape, but âcan haveâ and âif they wantâ⌠signs of no dysphoria
Yes, totally agreed as a transsexual man. It REALLY hit home especially when you said "they can't control their body type," because I am currently going through metabolic hormone issues at the moment that have me left astray waiting for it to get solved medically. And because of that, I've gained more weight than I would have liked due to chronic fatigue and fat regulation issues; which surprise surprise, if you're a biologically female transsexual man that has not had a double mastectomy yet, the chest tends to grow bigger with weight gain. Which I incredibly dislike and feel uncomfortable about every day of my life.
The difference between me as transsexual person and transgender individuals, is that my chest causes me discomfort. I don't want to be fetishized or portrayed as a "guy with big boobies" or a "transmasc with big honkers" (and believe me, the mismatch between how transmasc is used for transsexual people bothers me too). My chest ACTIVELY causes me to hold back in starting my life until I either lose weight and they get smaller, or they are surgically removed.
Transgender people or "transmascs" from what I have seen largely online, don't have this level of discomfort. They'd rather keep their chest and feel comfortable with expressing it socially, and don't mind acknowledging that it's physically there. But I cannot, because I am a transsexual male with sex dysphoria towards my female sex characteristics. I don't want my body to align with the perception of trans people with female sex characteristics, I want it to align with a cisgender male.
Yes I am concerned with how I'm seen socially and don't want to be perceived as female socially, whether it be a feminine or masculine woman. But I also have persistent sex dysphoria that appears EVERY day. That is the main factor that we should be looking for in regards to sex dysphoria and transsexualism diagnoses, not purely social discomfort. And the fact that gender euphoria can be pushed forward to use as a sole reason to transition too is also worrying.
And a note to the OP, I appreciate all your posts as a transsexual individual and they are meaningful even if mainstream media makes others' voices louder. I think that if it affects someone personally in a good way---even if it's just ONE person---it was worth mentioning and putting effort into. So thanks for expressing your opinions even when it is hard to have these beliefs nowadays!
Thank you so much for this and thank you for reading my posts, as old and whiny some of them can be đđ I agree with a lot of the points.
Just to end it off nicely, I hope everyone understands that larger breasts dont make a transsexual male any less transsexual. You have to be dysphoric all the same.
My father insists that my transsexuality is caused by autism and a coddling mother. What's your opinion on that? I'm trying to get officially diagnosed as the man doesn't wanna fund my "transformation"
Well, I canât judge based on a few words. It could be, it could be not. I think a *neutral*, well-meaning therapist might offer some guidance.
Sane take on my TL

Dysphoria is honestly such an avoidable state. It comes from rigid beliefs around the way things should be. This is why discovering ideas that tell you that you literally are physically the thing you have dysphoria for, that your physical reality that contradicts this is an obstacle to your happiness that you have to overcome, makes dysphoria far worse than the initial dysphoria.
my dysphoria comes from not having a cis male body. i have the chest, facial hair, the lack of a uterus, sure, but that came from injections and surgeries. i don't have a penis yet, i'll never have functional testicles, and i can only hope my dysphoria is as minimal as possible after phallo.
it wasn't from rigid beliefs or being told i'll always be a girl. sure, that made it worse, but my initial dysphoria comes from not having been born in a male body. and that was unavoidable.
âTransmen are different than cismen because they are connected to womanhoodâ
I grew up being socialised as a girl, then was thrust in the most womanhood-ly school imaginable. Instead of connection, I felt stomach-churning despair
I didnât live a girl experience. I lived an experience of pain and social isolation.
So no, I wonât necessarily relate to or conform to your perspectives.
hi i am a trans man. I never want to go onto t or get surgery, i am happy :)
then you're not a trans man. unless there is a valid reason you cannot medically transition, choosing not to means you like your natal sex. which means you're a girl.
I was reading a smutfic of two characters I like and realized halfway through the author had made one of em trans, and as such made it obvious by... Well, y'know, having a different set of genitalia. Which led me to wonder... Has ANYONE ever written a fucking smut piece with a trans person where they actually had bottom surgery???
Iâm a writer but rarely read fics because of this reason, among others lol.
Itâs because after bottom surgery, they canât sexualise the trans person as much, then itâll be boring âhetslopâ or âcisslopâ or whatever they call it.
If you blame all men for anything, or dispise all men, you are not a feminist, you are a TERF.
Include trans men? TERF. You're blaming a group that isn't responsible for your oppression for it. Don't include them? TERF. You're not considering trans men, men. Which are transphobic.
Include gay men? Homophobic. You're using a community that does not affect you as a scapegoat.
Include black men? Racist, and supporting systemic racism. You're reinforcing racial stereotypes that black men are dangerous or untrustworthy.
Overall? You're sexist and contributing to/uplifting the patriarchy, as well as feeding into oppressive dynamics of intersectionality. You're not a feminist because you don't understand intersectionalism and you're blaming an entire group for the actions of a few. Which is stereotyping and bigotry.

I see myself as heterosexual with demisexual/ graysexual behaviour (i donât see those two labels as under asexual but rather the allosexual spectrum), but my dysphoria has made me a bit uncomfortable with looking at the female sex. So the attraction also comes with back of the mind repulsion.
Just some struggles i can never express anywhereâŚ
I genuinely need like the modern trans community to understand that itâs perfectly normal to want to be the other sex even though youâre comfortable with your current one. Itâs called âthe grass is greener on the other sideâ.
By god that does not make you trans.
