Loren Poncia and I met up to discuss his innovative #regenerativegrazing company @stemplecreek ranch in #tomales. Here we see his momma and baby cows enjoying lush grass, fattening up for harvest, while#sequesteringcarbon from the atmosphere. #regenpioneers #carbonfarming#futureoffood. In the bottom picture, the right field, full of different types of grasses, looks starkly different from his neighbor’s field to the left. Loren truly is an #agroecological pioneer, and he will be showcased in podcast 11. Learn more about Stemple Creek Ranch at http://stemplecreek.com/
Aaron Lucich is the founder of #HolisticAg, a #regenerativegrazing company that currently caretakes a resident herd at the #pepperwoodpreserve in #santarosa. Aaron has a brilliant business model that we will be showcasing in podcast 10. Since November 2014 the beautiful, and intelligent Ariel Greenwood has been working with Aaron, learning the ropes, and diving deep into her expertise on site. Aaron and Ariel have a #postprofessional work relationship, where they handle both the business of land therapy, while also honestly working on the human psychological pieces that come up during their work together. Aaron says this work is natural for him, and credits his days as an actor for enabling him to conquer the emotional and physical work needed for his vision. Check out their visionary farm at http://holisticag.com/
Spencer Smith of the #savoryinstitute #jeffersonhub and I after an amazing weekend workshop on#holisticlandmanagement #regenerativegrazing and #carbonsequestration #holisticag. Great to be around such visionary farmers. The top picture is Spencer with the Secretary of Agriculture seal, because forward thinking #regenerativepioneers like Spencer belong in leading roles to take our #degenerativeagricultural sector that pollutes and destroys, and rapidly turn it into a sector that restores and replenishes the land, and the people who eat such food. Podcast 9 will showcase Spencer. Check out the Jefferson Hub at www.jeffersonhub.com.
Mike, Charity and Adam of #kingbirdfarms in #galtwere incredible hosts. Little did I know when we connected on #warmshowers that they have 5 acres of polycultural food production. This gem of a farm was a beautiful and great place to recharge, learn, and connect. Podcasts 7 and 8 about this team coming soon. #regenerativefarm #wildlifepreserve#beauty #youngfarmer #landstewards — at Kingbird Farms.

We as humans have a choice, either perpetuate the #degenerative #statusquo, or create a #regenerativesociety. Which will you choose?
I stopped by Weiser Family Farms to connect with Alex Weiser, and Jon Hammond of the Tehachapi Grain Project, and Cathy Sponsler of LA Bread Bakers, and we discuss heritage grains that are both drought resistant, and delicious. Listen to learn more.
John Dennis Liu, the headliner in the upcoming Regenerative Returns webinar. John is truly a pioneer, who tells the story of restoring our world in an almost spiritual way.
‘The Great Work of Our Time At certain times in human history the generations alive at the time are called upon to perform heroic deeds. Imagine the transition from “Flat Earth” to “Round Earth” or the end of slavery. Today, we face just such a moment. Human progress and possibly human survival depend on our understanding and actions at this time. Problems like land degradation, biodiversity loss, toxic pollution and climate change affecting everyone have been sublimated for the short-term profit of a few. Human population is growing by one billion people every twelve years. Yet for all our problems, the conditions are ripe for humanity to move to a new level of consciousness. If we realize, that knowledge and generosity yield much better outcomes than ignorance and greed, we can work together for mutual benefit. It is possible to restore large-scale degraded landscapes. It is possible to restore ecological function. We now have the technology to make the sum of human knowledge available to every human being on the planet simultaneously and instantaneously. We are called to restore the Earth and the Human Spirit. This is the Great Work of our Time.’
He will be touring in the Netherlands in early March, check him out. Let’s all engage in the Great Work of Our Time together.
Land Restoration As a Path to Financial Abundance Have your ever thought, is there a financial investment that is monetarily beneficial, good for the environment, and great for humanity as a whole? Investing in farmland has consistently outperformed the S&P 500, and now (due to the JOBS Act of 2013) regular investors have the chance to make a return on food production land, from regenerative agriculture that makes that land better than it was before. Regenerative products are set to rapidly outperform organic products, due to water restoration and proof that healthy soil reverses atmospheric carbon. Regenerative agriculture restores water in the local hydrology (great for drought ridden farmland,) increases plant biomass, and rebuilds soil (which in turn adds more water to the land.) It can also take carbon out of the atmosphere and replace it in the soil; meaning that soon consumers will be able to link their eating habits to food, and fashion habits to clothing, that is specifically designed to reverse climate change. The average consumer need not wait for their government to take action; their everyday purchasing habits can ‘fix’ the largest problem facing humanity today. This is an exciting investment opportunity unlike ever before in recorded history. This webinar will showcase four leading edge minds in regeneration, all seeking to equip you with the necessary information to capitalize on this incredible investment potential. Our headliner is John Dennis Liu, the wise sage who's groundbreaking "Hope In a Changing Climate" showcased that uniting return on ecology and return on investment work at a 3 million acre scale. John will also break down the science of how soil breaks down atmospheric carbon. Erik Hjermstad is a grassroots team builder who, for the last two years, has been gathering support for large scale regeneration project in CA's Central Valley- America's largest producing agricultural region. Erik will dive into his 15 square mile vision to restore and regenerate fallow land, bringing water back into the landscape and creating high quality food. Tim Lundquist is an architect and whole systems designer with a vision to transform the way food is produced in the Northeast. His Stewardship Farm Wheel is a 10 square mile vision includes greenhouse designs, and combines community development with food production, all while restoring the surrounding ecology. Jon Connors is an activist/ entrepreneur who is currently cycling through the Central Valley doing research into the economics of Erik's vision to restore and regenerate this region. His White Paper, Regenerative Returns, has been introducing retail and institutional investors to the possibility of making huge financial return restoring land. Kiril Ravensong of the NYC branding firm, No Agenda, will be facilitating the webinar, ensuring an entertaining as well as informative event from all who attend. Biographies: John D. Liu is Director of the Environmental Education Media Project (EEMP), Ecosystem Ambassador for the Commonland Foundation and a visiting research fellow at the Netherlands Institute of Ecology of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (NIOO/KNAW). As an international television producer and cameraman in the 1980s /1990s John covered geo-political events including the rise of China from poverty and isolation and the collapse of the Soviet Union for CBS News, RAI and ZDF. Since being introduced to China’s Loess Plateau in 1995 on assignment for the World Bank, John has pursued a long-term inquiry into ecological function receiving fellowships and appointments from many institutions including UWE (UK), Rothamsted Research (UK), George Mason University, IUCN and others. In 1997, John founded the Environmental Education Media Project (EEMP) to help educate the public about environmental and ecological issues first in China and then worldwide, producing, directing, writing, filming and presenting many ecological films broadcast worldwide. Mr. Liu’s efforts to understand and communicate the importance of ecological function and the potential of restoration have been honored by several institutions including the United Nations, the Society for Ecological Restoration and Rotary International. Erik Hjermstad is an ecological designer and permaculture practitioner from San Diego. His longtime experience in media and manufacturing now serves his passion for regenerative agriculture here in southern California. Erik's life focus is to collaborate with dedicated people in creating restorative farms and land nodes here in on the west coast of North America, and to support the teams and communities who will develop and manage them. Erik realized that California requires a flagship regenerative farm and education center to effectively develop, prove, and share the strategies, techniques, and real world results of permaculture and regenerative agriculture. He tells his collaborators, 'we must show that we can heal the land around us, while growing our food at the same time,' all while being profitable. Erik is also is the creator of Cobfest, a barn-raising turned micro-festival that now serves as a prototype for open-source gathering platforms to effectively regenerate the world around us while having healthy fun with our friends. He understands that to solve the ecological challenges facing our culture, we must cultivate powerful social collaborations to effectively aggregate our human resources into regenerative solutions. Tim Lundquist is a fourth generation architect has been working on designing and developing sustainable communities and green housing as the founder of thebluebirdgroup.com in the Hudson Valley. He is the author of the 6 Bluebird Master Planning Patterns that create livable, regenerative and restorative communities. The Stewardship on Millbrook Road is a premier example of this integrated approach, which includes a regenerative farm within the master development. Tim is the engine behind the scaleable Stewardship Farm Wheel that brings fair profit farming to New York and the Northeast.. He is a frequent speaker on green planning at public seminars, and presentations to towns and workshops. Tim has been involved with start-up operations in the past, including: Five years with the Founders of Garden Way, the mail order pioneer purveyors of the Troy-built Rototillers and part of the launch team for Country Home Products, which through a direct to consumer marketing system soon became the largest lawn equipment mail order retailer. Jon Connors is an activist, social entrepreneur, and author whose passion for regeneration permeates all aspects of his life. His undergraduate degree is from the Culinary Institute of America, where he learned the intricacies of the food system from farm to table. He learned about regenerative agriculture from the Center of Bioregional Living in NY. He earned a Master’s in Financial Statement Analysis and Securities Valuation from CUNY Baruch, where he learned to project the future based on financial reporting. He is currently cycling around the CA Central Valley seeking fallow land to regenerate, and will be bringing his findings to webinar attendees, retail and institutional investors. Kiril Ravensong's job is to turn brilliant ideas into a holistic singular tale of humanity's victory. He gets talented artists paid, and discovers true experts to head the planning boards of innovative efforts dedicated to life promoting activity. No Agenda is a powerful collective of artists, musicians, designers, who garner the financial and intellectual capital to rebuild the world according to the best present time practices available. Kiril states 'it is my honor to find solutions to both global and local life and death circumstances with grace, humility, and raw dedication.’
Regenerative Returns Webinar, March 10th 2016.
’After passing thru Ojai, and meeting up with some dear friends, I traveled to Quail Springs Permaculture, a regenerative, self sufficient community encompassing 450 acres in the desert lands that touch upon the Los Padres Forest. I met many community members. Andrew Clinard studied East African Studies in University, and spent much time abroad; upon coming across the Quail Springs community he told me, it is the closest he can come to an African Village here in the US. Jack Thrift is passionate about holistic land management, and seeks to restore land using balanced animal grazing. Jack and I spoke of the potential of reversing the effects of climate change using this type of grazing. Jan Smith was my point person, who ensured I was prepared with directions before entering the valley on route 33, where there is no cell phone service. Jan gave insight on possible roadblocks in getting traditional farmers to connect with regenerative land practices. Jan’s husband, Brenton Kelley, a tall man with an affiliation to local native culture, sat down with me to discuss the community in more detail.’

‘The first day took me from Mid City Los Angeles to Malibu, crossing through the concrete jungle into the natural, green, secluded Malibu coastline.
I arrived in Ventura, and met Rob Barnett and Ally Gialketsis, two regenerative activists passionate about food security. Rob is an Air Force Veteran and is currently learning how to manage a diversified farm while interning for Alpacas at Windy Hill Ranch in Somis, CA. Ally is the driving force behind the Ventura Food Coop, and her passion for food justice leads her to abundance where others see only waste.’
In the first podcast of Cycle 2 Evolve 2.0, I take you through the events that lead from a cross country journey ride to cycling through CA agricultural country. A chance lunch with Gregory Wendt was the catalyst; the podcast flashbacks from farms across the US with Sarah, Sara, Terry, Charles, andJesus. I shout out Brian and Cadillac Desert, as well as give context for the greatest investment opportunity of a generation- Regenerating degraded land.
Tune in to this podcast and others, and learn how you can capitalize on the 2016 CA #SoilRush.
’Opportunities for Investment
Regenerative Agriculture is a step beyond organic agriculture. Organic agriculture has only achieved 3 percent marketshare in 30 years; partly because it is viewed as a luxury good in the minds of many consumers. Regenerative production on the other hand, can halt CO2 in the atmosphere, and here in drought ridden CA and other arid regions, can rehydrate dry and fallow landscapes. Rehydrating landscapes is a big investment opportunity; by returning water into dry and dessicated farmscapes, there is potential for land appreciation. This investment would yield the side benefits of reversing the effects of CA’s drought, while reversing the effects of climate change with carbon sequestration, a win win for every investor and every sentient being on planet Earth.
