Coming back from another long, poorly rendered adventure that the ringmaster had created, you were exhausted to say the least. Exhausted as you can be in your cartoon like body.

“WELLLCOMEEEE BACKKK MY SUPRSTARS!!” The set of teeth exclaimed twirling his cane around. The group groaned, all seemingly sick of his antics, but you weren’t. Cain remained oblivious to the others though, his set of eyes seemingly locking onto you. While Cain was used to the others being tired of him, putting on a silly facade overtime to endure their constant whining. You were putting small dents in it. You were the only one that seemingly enjoyed his grand adventures, he was at a lost. He had no idea if it was because you were new to the his digital hell or if you actually enjoyed them. He leaned more towards the ladder, because who wouldn’t love his adventures!

Cain quickly dismissed the group, letting them do whatever humans do! Vanishing into thin air with a snap of his fingers, he was sitting in his office. You on the other side of his desk. He couldn’t just let you mingle with those ungrateful creatures, and he was curious. He was an AI after all, it was just for research to understand your kind more.

“Soooooo, tell me superstar, do you ACTUALLY like my adventures?” He asked, leaning over the desk unprofessionally with his teeth in his hands.

“I don’t like your adventures cain.” You start, watching his eyes seemingly express some kind of emotion, he seemed hurt.

But you pick back up, finishing your sentence, “I LOVE your adventures Caine. You know before i came to this digital world, my life was a complete bore, so to do these amazingly fun things basically everyday. It’s amazing.“ You beamed

That seemed to pick up caine’s mood. He leans closer, eyes practically popping out of his jaws, “REALLLLLLLLLY?” he exclaimed, “THIS IS TERRIFIC NEWS. I ALWAYS KNEW I LIKED YOU THE MOST SUPERSTAR!” He blurted out.

It caught you off your guard. ‘Liking you the most?’ Well i didn’t think an AI could really understand what that means, let alone express it. Caine had always expressed how he had no favorites and liked us all equally, but him saying those words seemed to contradict his previous behavior. It made you flush, seemingly flustered from that statement, making your digital heart pick up pace. You had always had a fondness towards caine, enjoying his quirky personality and his quips. How at times it seems as if he was truly starting to understand us Humans. It made you feel a sense of comfort, and adoration. fascinated by this anomaly of teeth.

Snapping you out of his office and back into the main room, and also snapping you out of your deep thought from his words. He floated above you, looking down, he was smiling.

While locking eyes, seemingly both stuck in some type of trance, he speaks again. Softer this time, not his usually show stopping booming tone, “Sleep well my star, maybe i do have favorites.”

And with that he vanished with a tip of his hat. Leaving you confused, happy, and flustered. Surely he didn’t mean it, but why would he lie. Your head spinning with ideas and how you actually barely got to respond to his statement. Guilt and a type of embarrassment rising in your chest at your silence towards him.
