I work with kids and sometimes we have to do safety lessons with them about like, not telling strangers on the internet your home address or something. And sometimes the kids wont understand why, so you have to impart upon them that, well, some adults want to hurt children. And thats kind of difficult to do, because you have to beat around the bush, both because you dont want to scare them (while still making them understand how serious it is) and because you might lose your job if you explain it too straight forward.

Luckily, for some reason, the villain of one of the most popular franchises with children for the last 10 years happens to be a serial child murderer. So when a kid asks why they shouldnt trust strangers, instead of hand wringing and humhawing my answer out, I can just say "we dont always know when a strange adult has good intentions with children, or when they are William Afton."

a headcanon is a fact that you have personally made up as an elaboration of canon. it is your invention. e.g. i think morgana and gwen had a teenage lesbian situationship before the events of canon. or, i think modern morgana would love evanesence.

an interpretation is how one reads the existing text. it is not an invented fact nor is it a headcanon, it is a reading. e.g. i think merlin tries to poison morgana out of misplaced self-hatred. or, i think that one line was delivered with suppressed malice and shows a nuanced relationship.

fanon is the general fandom’s accepted headcanons and interpretations that elaborate or recontextualize canon. e.g. merlin is a badass waif and morgana is a bitch.

these are all different words with different meanings.

I so so so hate the "soulmate" trope where "everyone has a soulmate." And, no, people going "oh look at these friends who are soulmates! I'm so inclusive to aspecs!" just. Do. Not. Get it. And they won't! They don't get that the issue isn't the romance or whatever of soulmates, it's the implication that everyone must partner up, even if it's with a qpp or friend or whatever. Nope! I'm not partnering! I don't care for your amatonormativity! And yes you "replacing" romance with a friend or qpp is still amatonormativity because I don't trust that you don't see those as Romance Lite(tm) in this context! And I bitterly resent the implication that I am fundamentally less human--literally missing part of my soul--because I don't want a partner. So yeah culturally it is soooo time to get over fucking "soulmates."
