Cute as Hook

I found the above photo online recently and fell in love with the simple fan ripple and colour choices.

The blanket as designed by a French Crocheter called Patty, and her website can be found here : http://pattycrochete.canalblog.com/ 

The pattern wasn’t written in English and google translate created a page full of gobbledeygook! So after a bit of study on French Crochet Terms, I came up with the following translation.

This pattern belongs to Patty of Patty Crochet and I have not amended it in anyway. All credit belongs to Patty.

The Pattern:

Written using US terms.

The chain is worked in multiples of 13, plus 12 chains, plus 3 for turning.

The turning chain counts as 1 DC throughout.

Row 1: Chain the correct amount needed for your blanket and then 2 DC in 3rd chain from hook. *1DC in the next 3 stitches, DC2TOG x 3, 1DC in next 3 stitches, 3DC in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * until last 2 stitches and then 2DC in next stitch and 1DC in last stitch. Chain 3 and turn,

Row 2: 3DC in 1st stitch, *chain 2, skip 4 stitches and SC in the next stitch (this is the stitch before the decreases from the previous row), chain 4, skip 2 stitches and SC in next stitch (the first stitch after the decreases), chain 2, skip 3 stitches and 5DC in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * until last 2 stitches then 3DC in next stitch and 1DC in turning chain. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 3: In the Back Loops Only

2DC in the 1st stitch, 2DC in next stitch, 1DC in next, *chain 2, 1SC around chain 4 of row below, chain 2, (Working into the 5 stitches of the fan) 1DC, 2DC, 3DC, 2DC, 1DC*, repeat from * to * until 4 stitches remain, then 3DC into 2nd to last stitch and 1DC into turning chain from previous round. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 4: In the Front Loops Only

1DC, (2DC in next stitch, 1 in next) x 2 (completes the first half fan), *into next fan 1DC, (2DC, 1DC) x 4* repeat from * to * until last half fan, then 1DC, (2DC, 1DC) x 2 and 1 DC in turning chain. Chain 3 and turn

Row 5: In the Back Loops Only

2DC in 1st stitch, *1DC in the next 3 stitches, DC2TOG x 3, 1DC in next 3 stitches, 3DC in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * until last 2 stitches and then 2DC in next stitch and 1DC in last stitch. Chain 3 and turn.
