Custard Comix

I’ve always liked playing around with art challenges - sometimes, the execution isn’t quite there, though!

Custard - I wondered about the logo. I wanted something simple and fun. I always enjoyed the little details in the background of the Beano and Dandy, and the style of the items. So I did an empty Custard Can.

My first zine was an interesting experience. There are things I took from here an used in later issues. The point went I sent it to print was very nerve wracking. This one features the prologue to my serialized story Angel Interceptors. 

The bat-light is on! I , for some, reason, put my bat-light on when I’m working on this. Here you can see me working on one of the pages for Afghanistan. Linked to my earlier post on Lilith!

Clue - it’s a country beginning with ‘A’

I found some interesting parallels between Lilith and the the first of my monsters.  In this case the quote:

"Leave me!' she said. "I was created only to cause sickness to infants. If the infant is male, I have dominion over him for eight days after his birth, and if female, for twenty days."

I did have a Tumblr blog somewhere, but that was for....something else. This is for something....new.

I’ve always had an interest in myths, monsters and folklore. Even more so of one as I grew older - myths from around the world fascinated me. Not only the ones that were different, but their similarities.  This, along with wanted to create something, has driven me to start a look at monsters from around the world. Not the usual ones, the ones from films and comics, but the ‘other’ ones. Some a little scary, and some are just totally different to what you would expect.

Over the course of this blog I will be charting my reference and also some extra commentary on what I have discovered in my challenge!
