A coworker and I toured a preschool today. I didn’t pay attention to where it was. To the point that I thought it was 20 mins further than it was, fully getting the town wrong. Anyway, Google directions had me driving by my old corporate job. Which is not on a main road. What are the odds! The school was like half a mile away. Commuting flashbacks.

Bonus: it only took an hour, so I have time to swing by the romance bookstore in Los Altos. Coffee offerings here are much slimmer than I anticipated, while I wait for it to open. It’s also all old people in this town.

Took a walk with my neighbor this morning after we dropped our kids off at school. We don’t hang out that often, but I just really enjoy my time with her when we do! She is so upfront and honest about stuff, which makes me feel comfortable being the same. So our conversations often get pretty deep, pretty fast. Which feels kinda nice!

Anyway, after that I went to the doctor to get a weird spot on my leg photographed for the second time. First time they sent it to dermatology and they said it’s a scab. I didn’t think it was, even back then, but it STILL has t changed/healed/fallen off, two months later. That is not scab activity! Not changing at all is hopefully maybe a good thing? Idk, we’ll see what they say this time.

Obviously I don’t want it to be anything BAD, but it’s also not normal! Or a scab!

8 yr old didn’t seem TOO nervous for his first day of school, which is great! I don’t think any of his friends are in his class, which is a bummer. For his grade, we were told to line up outside the building and the teachers would bring them in. With all the parents milling about, I didn’t realize his line was going in, so I set him on his way and told him which line to follow. I had that brief “do I go with him?” moment, but I didn’t think the parents were supposed to go back. Then I saw a bunch of them heading in, so I did, too, just to make sure he found his way. Sure enough, he was just standing in the middle of all these people, not sure where to go. Glad I went in!

11 yr old is in the middle school part of the campus now. He didn’t want me to walk him in, but we’re both pretty confident he can find his way around.

I was dead set on meal prepping some stuff last night, but my gd instant pot wouldn’t seal (the little steam button thing) and my chicken turned out rubbery and NOW I HAVE TO EAT IT ALL WEEK.

And then I remembered why I don’t meal prepping much.

Good news: my 11 yr old eats like a college linebacker and liked the chicken! So I DONT have to eat it all by myself!

My kids’ school doesn’t announce class assignments until 5pm the day before school starts (tomorrow).

8 yr old got the one teacher who wasn’t there when 11 yr was in 3rd grade, so I know nothing about her. Wish us luck.

First day of my period at a water park?! God damnit.

It’s just me and the kids away for the night, and my husband is sending updates about how the dog won’t settle down and keeps staring at the front door, waiting for us to come back.

Great wolf lodge is huge and sometimes is takes like 15 mins to walk back to our room. This trip we got the first room off the lobby. Bless.

We actually got 8 yr old to try a real water slide at great wolf lodge. One of the big five seater ones, because they’re pretty slow. The operator was doing two rides, so she loaded us and then went to the other ride. We sat there for several mins, just enough time for 8 yr old to think about it and panic. Sigh. So close!

Found a great deal to go to NYC in Feb, but that realllllly feels like playing the weather lottery for us week ass Californians.

I went in January years ago and it was cold as hell. I was prepared, but I don’t have the STUFF for it now!

…but I do love a deal.

The company that I haven't worked at in over a decade has been acquired, and I get plenty of 401k benefit info that I mostly ignore. I decided I should make sure I actually know where my money is, and went to track down which website it's at now. Good lord! Look. I'm glad security is tight, but also it took me forever and a phone call to figure out how to access my account. Didn't help that the account had my old phone number on it, so I couldn't get a security code. Anyway, I figured it out. Money is still there.

#I was hoping to figure out if I can add to my 401k myself outside of paychecks #but that does not appear to be a thing #Now that I'm making (very little) money I would like to look more into how to invest a bit of it #a world that I know nothing about
