Artist and ceramicist Romy Northover opened her studio in New York in 2012.
Having lived in London, Hong Kong, Venice and Berlin before establishing her brand in New York, Romy is traditionally trained in European ceramics and uses the Japanese techniques of Kinuneri, Tebineri and Rokuro to create beautiful pieces combining the ancient and contemporary.
For her collaboration with Alex Eagle, Romy created pieces she believes to become more beautiful and singular when having been broken and manipulated.
When Alex and Romy met to discuss the design, they visited a show that was on at Paul Kasmin Gallery NYC, where they found the exquisite surfaces of Constanti Brancusi and Donald Judd sculptures.
Taking inspiration from this experience, as well as from the works of John Chamberlain, Carlo Scarpa, the Japanese Wabi-sabi philosophy and other natural elements and materials, Romy created an exquisite exclusive glass and gold collection for Alex.

Fisherman’s Teacups with a porcelain slip containing copper bicarbonate, soda fired.
From his website:
Drinking is a very intimate process. I love drinking from cups without handles. It allows you to physically experience the form and substance of the pot by touching it to your lips, holding and cradling it.

I’m all about that peach streak running through the black and white.
