to the non POC people staying quiet during this time:
-your silence is speaking volumes
-even if you say you’re neutral, you’ve chosen the side of the oppressor
-use your privilege and your voice for this cause
-give support to the african american community
Post about this might not do anything in ur eyes. But let people acknowledge what is going around in the world will. So please take the time of ur day to post ur awareness that is happening in America rn.

One of THEE best actors of our generation. I recall telling him on Twitter that I'd love to see him as Dick Gregory in a biopic and he was so flattered and started following me and my core group of Black Twitter friends who were movie buffs and burgeoning cinematographers.
Michael K. Williams was not only a talented actor, but also an amazing dancer/choreographer. He choreographed Crystal Waters "100% Pure Love" video, was a backup dancer for Cece Pennington, Madonna, George Michael, and countless other entertainers.
This loss really hurts. Rest in Power, Michael K. Williams.
This is also where I’ll add for those who don’t know (although many do) that Michael K Williams was a club kid turned choreographer and dancer before the acting. He did a gang of tours, and choreographed Crystal Waters 100% Pure Love video (he’s in the middle)

In many cultures, ethnic groups, and nations around the world, hair is considered a source of power and prestige. African people brought these traditions and beliefs to the Americas and passed them down through the generations.
In my mother’s family (Black Americans from rural South Carolina) the women don’t cut their hair off unless absolutely necessary (i.e damage or routine trimming). Long hair is considered a symbol of beauty and power; my mother often told me that our hair holds our strength and power. Though my mother’s family has been American born for several generations, it is fascinating to see the beliefs and traditions of our African ancestors passed down. We are emotionally and spiritually attached to our hair, cutting it only with the knowledge that we are starting completely clean and removing stagnant energy.
Couple this with the forced removal and covering of our hair from the times of slavery and onward, and you can see why so many Black women and men alike take such pride and care in their natural hair and love to adorn our heads with wigs, weaves, braids, twists, accessories, and sharp designs.
Hair is not just hair in African diaspora cultures, and this is why the appropriation and stigma surrounding our hair is so harmful.
Signs You’re Depressed, Not Lazy
This needs to be shared with more people, do you agree?
It’s not that I can’t change its that I’m fucking depressed there’s a difference. I relate to 2,3,4 and 6 like hell.
