Hide Your Heart in the Ice

  ♔ — This felt like it was going to be an icy encounter and not because of her powers. She seemed uneasy and it made him feel the same. His arms moved to wrap around himself, unknowingly mimicking her actions. 

"I feel this meeting will not be as pleasant as our first meeting…" Which also wasn’t terribly pleasant. She had swiftly declined his and Anna’s engagement and that’s when everything spiraled into such a mess. Not that it was Queen Elsa’s fault, oh no! Just a bad set series of events. But… if she had just agreed things might have gone better. And he probably wouldn’t be in this cell. So… 

The sudden chill at her fingertips startled her, and she stared down in horror at the ice crystals curling up the bars of the cell from her touch.  She had stopped wearing gloves for the most part, her powers having seemed so far under control at this point that they had seemed unnecessary. Until now.  Her hands fell away from the bars as if they burned her, a momentary flash of the same terror that used to haunt her every waking moment flooding her mind.

Why had she come here?

It was an answer she could not even give herself, much less him. He symbolized so much of her past that she wished to forget. All her fears, the darkest moments of her life. Moments that were over and done with. But fear had not been conquered, only pacified. Her actions still haunted her when she most denied it.  Who knew if things would remain this stable indefinitely?  Perhaps it was not to see him that she had ventured down to this cell. Maybe it was not her would be murderer she wanted to face.

It was herself.
