[There’s laughter that trickles to a stop, and the shuffling of paper again near the mic. There’s static, before the recording shuts off.]

“I’m tired,” One whispered, keeping his voice low as to not disturb the dark atmosphere, “Can we stop for a bit? Just to rest at least a little.”

“We can stop in a sec-”

And then a sound rang out. Sharp and deep, like a firework, it echoed through the Woods. If it was anywhere else, back at the city, perhaps, it would have fit right in, just another noise, but here, in the dead silence, it almost hurt to hear.

Tubbo blinked, stumbling back and dropping the recorder, a small fizz of static coming from the machine as it hit the ground.

That sound rang out again. Tubbo couldn’t tell if it was closer, or if it just felt louder to him. His back impacted with something solid, a tree, maybe, and he sunk to the ground, ears ringing, vision blurred by… tears, he thinks, or maybe it was something else, he’s not sure, but he can’t focus, everything is slightly hazy, and then-

“Tubbo? Are- are you okay, dude?”

He’s slumped against the tree, being shaken awake by Tommy. His vision is still slightly blurred, and his ears echo a bit too loudly, but he feels okay. Not great, but survivable.

“Yeah.. I think so. What… happened?”

“There was this bang… and you kinda just stumbled and passed out for a second. Are you sure you’re okay?”

“No, no, I’m fine, I swear, just, one more question.”

“Yeah?”
